‘Ginge Pele’ contract re-think on cards

James Collins’ remarkable form since returning to the injury stricken Hammers defence is causing a Slaven Bilic re-think over the veteran defender.

The Ginger Pele, 33, was a colossus in the defence against Swansea and has drawn incredible admiration for  his performances over three matches in eight days since his recall.

The Hammers loyalist is under contract until summer 2018 but there had been strong suggestions that he would be allowed to move on this summer.

And although both Winston Reid and Angelo Ogbonna are expected to return to action within the next four weeks the amazing form shown by JC is concentrating minds.

And there is now a strong possibility the club will be reluctant to allow him to move on and instead keep him on board for the duration of his contract.

We were told: “Ginge has been amazing in desperate circumstances and is a great guy to have around the squad.

“We’ll look at the end of the season along with all the others. He will probably have played quite a number of games by then and so fr he has been outstanding.”.

  1. For me never in doubt that we should keep him.

  2. He’s never let us down. Why wouldn’t the club give him an extension. He’s a great role model and loyal to the club.

    Two things stand out for me this season with Ginge;

    The way he sprinted out to warm up when Reid went down against Leicester and his reaction when the final whistle went on Saturday. This guy genuinely loves the club and gives it all.

  3. Keep him….but loan Oxford out for a season next year and keep Burke, who must be ahead of him in the pecking order next season.

  4. Yeah, you want a bit of mobility & pace at the back, but he gives a lot in other ways. Sign on the dotted line…

  5. Fully deserves to be kept on. There isn’t a more passionate player in the club and he literally throws his body in the way of everything he can. He also never moans when he isn’t playing and is always ready to be called upon. He should be club captain.

  6. Rubbish lmao. He’s had one good game against Swansea! I have a feeling he will play the remains 6 matches alongside Fonte. Let’s judge that in May. I do love the bloke mind and he certainly looks after his pearly white body!!

  7. Give him a years extension, or place him with the coaching staff….it’s a no-brainer
