Ginger Pele’s on/off move is OFF

|

James Collins’ move to Ipswich Town amid rumours that the Hammers defensive hero could be on the move back to his former club Aston Villa.

The Ginger Pele was offered a contract with The Tractor Boys and it was thought nailed on that this would be the move for which he would go.

But Town boss Paul Hurst confirmed that the former Welsh international, who is available on a free is no longer a potential signing.

He is quoted as saying: “I’ve been made aware he won’t be signing for Ipswich Town. I’m surprised we’ve not seen anything in the press in some shape or form. I had a message from James and that deal is dead and buried now.

“I made no secret of the fact we wanted to do something there but I stand by the fact he wasn’t fit at the time. That was what was best for the football club. But if what I’m led to believe is happening, is happening then I wish him well.

“He was here and genuinely did enjoy his time here. The [contract] offer was common knowledge between parties and it was more about being fit. In between another club showed interest. It won’t be long, I won’t imagine.”

There is no confirmation at this stage but the Villa option is being widely discussed.
