Goal-hungry young Hammer “can set tone for team”
By Hughie Southon
Steve Potts has been discussing the hottest striking property has had on its hands for a very long time.
Earlier we revealed that Callum Marshall was watched by masses of scouts as he scored a hat-trick that saw the under 21s beat Middlesbrough 5-0.
His goals are now well into double figures after scoring 23 last season but as yet has barely made an impact on the first team.
The youngster – whose arrival at the club was hailed as a major coup – has also made his first appearance for his international team Notyjrtn Ireland and looks as big and perhaps bigger a prospect as Divin Mubama.
As Gonzo wrote earlier he certainly looks to more than have outgrown the Development team and surely has to be given his chance at senior level given the incredible impression he is making.
Young Irons wants more an more goals
Now lead coach for the Development squad Steve Potts has made him view very clear and could hardly be more impressed with the lad.
He said: “Callum’s a player who just wants more and more goals. What hits me is how hard he works for it.
He just wants to find and win the ball and he does so much for the team as well as score goals. That can never be underestimated because as he goes up the levels, it is harder to get goals.
But even if he doesn’t get goals, he brings a lot and can set the tone for the team.”
