Gold admits truth about Hull game

|

David-GoldDavid Gold has admitted the truth – the performance against Hull City was “poor.”

The co-chairman – pestered on Twitter to admit the truth about the very fortunate victory on Saturday afternoon – had no problem doing so in his latest tweet on the game as a follower demanded he expressed his feelings.

Gold was told: “That was the worse performance of the season, our players play like that have never met one another. Why you covering that up?”

Gold was quite content to agree with the assessment and denied any cover-up in his appraisal of the game responding: “I’m not denying that our performance against Hull was poor. But they say it’s a sign of a good team if you can win playing badly. dg”

They do say it’s the sign of a good team if you can win playing poorly but they usually say that about teams who are also winning playing well, we are not and other than 2 games this season have been consistently poor in pretty much most aspects of our game. I am sure DG is just being positive but their needs to be a shake up somewhere to sort out why our players are just sitting off. Slav is basing everything around confidence and thinks when the pressure is off we will play better which may be true too some extent but it is not a recipe for success, we need winners players that respond well too pressure not ones that can only play when the pressure is off, every team that wins anything meaningful has to respond too pressure, they have to know when their backs are against the wall they can dig deeper, this season too few of our players look like they have that in them and without an inspirational leader on the pitch they look clueless and are waiting on Dimi too provide the magic. One of the other biggest falures from what I can see is that the only player communicating on Saturday seemed to be Carroll, all the players should be talking shouting to each other and calling for the ball, I can’t see how Bilic will turn that around or the players fitness, I think we will survive this season maybe even finish lower mid table but we need winners and communicators, look at Arsenal’s defence with Mustafi he talks and rallies them and they look defensively solid without him they look like a strawberry quality street. I can’t see DS paying the £100m odd we would need to buy those type of players but we need 2 or 3 at least if we want to be top 4, Fernandes when he first played was doing that but I think the lethargy of our team is wilting that away, if Slav wants to play this system and Carroll and Antonio up top he should put Fernandes at wingback he is better there than Antonio is and the side looks a bit more solid anyway I hope Slav looks at all aspects of training and turns it around but I am not confident and disagree with DG’s assessment of us being a good team winning when we play bad, we were just a lucky team that didn’t deserve it’s luck on Saturday.
