West Ham Co-Chairman, David Gold has broken silence over Tony Carr’s situation confirming much of what ClaretandHugh reported earlier today.
Responding to a West Ham supporter who asked David why he sacked Tony Carr, Gold replied on twitter:
“Not sacked. Tony’s two-year, full-time ambassador contract came to an end. He declined an ongoing part-time role dg”
He later added: “We offered Tony an ongoing part-time ambassadorial role. He declined. But he’ll always be welcome at the Club. dg”
In the meantime Karren Brady has decided to stay quiet on social media since the media storm broke last night after Charles Sale at the Daily Mail broke the story.
Earlier the London Evening Standard claimed:
“The club were this morning preparing a statement but it is thought there could be room for further discussion. West Ham were today considering Carr’s comments. It is understood that the club, when appointing Westley as Academy Director, wanted to ensure Carr was kept on in a full-time capacity beyond his 65th birthday, before he began receiving a club pension. He accepted a two year, fixed term contract to stay at the club as a full-time ambassador on full pay. Carr had previously retained all profits from a testimonial match which drew a 13,000 crowd.”
Truth be known it seems the only people going garrity about this are a handful of social media using fans based on an article in the Daily Mail where you know all quotes will be of a factual nature of course. What a pantomime of the fans making it would appear.
offered a part time role….thats facking scandalous…..after all the years he’s put in,,,I bet they charge him entrance fee’s to watch west ham too
Frack me the man is 65yrs old, perhaps at his time of life he wasn’t interested in a full time job.Its called retirement age for a reason.Have you actually considered the fact he might now want to relax & enjoy life.
I would have retired the day after the testimonial with £500k sat in my bank account LOL
Lol 😉
You & me both Ray.I have just come off of 10 hours on the trowel & have been doing it for 30 years now.Im falling apart but no one has given me a testimonial yet.He may have made millions for the club but I bet I have made more for the housing market lol
There are some people that (whilst ignoring the facts) will jump at any chance to have a moan about this club and (specially) its owners. I don’t know why they bother supporting the club! Still, give the miserable idiots something to moan about. Just wait until we start losing a few games on the trot – Bilic will be the target of their moans, then!
Oh you read WHTID as well do you lol
Lol Stanley.I have become a fan of the frog man on there. He courageously battles on against a constant stream of negativity, big gobs & men who seem to know the inside story on every issue though clearly they know **** all in truth.
Lol… he is the voice of one crying in the wilderness… 😉
I honestly find it staggering to read the negativity.I mean seriously why would you support a club you only want to run down or be critical of most the time. The highlight of their week is when they find something to moan about.I really, really don’t get it.Can they not be shipped off to Spurs on mass .If you don’t like following West Ham anymore then **** off & let the rest of us enjoy it.Sorry for venting but they annoy me so much. The same berks who probably sat throw the years of Allardyce filth football without batting an eyelid, then we have the best season in years & all they can do is moan.Absolutely staggering.I appreciate we are all West Ham supporters but as I mentioned earlier I have realised I find some extremely irritating.
I was pretty angry last night about it but now I wish I hadn’t had such a knee jerk reaction.I should have taken on-board many factors which I didn’t.But I will tell you something for nought,if I read PR disaster one more time today I will scream.Blimey some people just never give it a rest.
Empty vessels my friend.Empty vessels….
I think its an absolute PR disaster….
