Gold confident on Kouyate appeal

cheikhou-kouyate-west-ham-fa-cup_3419649West Ham chairman David Gold believes the club have a better than 50/50 chance of appealing Kouyate’s red card and subsequent one match ban for a professional foul. Gold insisted that the Blackburn player wasn’t going to get the ball so it wasn’t a goal scoring opportunity.

Gold tweeted “I think we have a very good case better than 50-50. The Blackburn player wasn’t going to get the ball anyway so he wasn’t denied a goal scoring opportunity. dg”

The appeal will be heard by a three-person independent regulatory commission will be convened to assess written evidence from the match officials and West Ham, as well as video footage of the incident.

The so called ‘FA three wise man’ usually include a former football man often a former player/manager, a former member of a FA association sometimes a previous chairman and a person with a legal background who understands the rules of football.

  1. Watched this so many times now still do not see contact even though from this angle it looks like slight contact, but you need to see the whole picture as its other things that count as a red card,
Was he the last man ?
Was it a goal scoring chance ?
Did he have control of the ball ?
Was ther any intent by Kouyate to fell the player ?
I have 4 no,s so it’s no red in fact I don’t think it’s a yellow as there was no history in this game of bad tackles by Kouyate

    • Agreed, Kouyate shows no intent to tackle or impede, tries to get out of the way. Blackburn player actually trips himself up. Need the big man against SAFC.

  2. IMO the player is being cute ? He lost control of the ball and clearly trips himself up!!
How can a slight touch force his leg behind himself and scrounge his body like he was poll axed ? No red card IMO. Moss should retire anyway , he’s never been a top ref and getting worse with age . Atkinson is in the same boat as well, its about time some southern refs be admitted to the set up, except from north London of course , as we would never win a game with 7 men left on the park ?? IMO of course .
