Gold defends summer signings

|

West-Ham-United-co-owner-David-GoldDavid Gold is convinced that despite our currently perilous League position, the Hammers has one of the best squads at the club for some time.

The co charman has defended the squad on Twitter after being asked who was accountable for the summer signings – most of whom have been roundly condemned by fans.

Despite the clear failures of such as Simone Zaza, Gokhan Tore and Harvard Nortveidt and with such as Sofiane Feghouli still to prove themselves, Gold is sticking by his guns that this is a decent squad.

It is his first comment on Twtter concerning the club since the 3-2 defeat at White Hart Lane over the weekend.

He was asked politely by a follower  dear Mr Gold. Who’s accountable of our choice of summer signings?

And the co chairman immediately responded by saying: “We are all accountable. However we still have one of the best squad of players at the club than we have had for some time. dg

David Gold does not even know what day it is.

He hasn’t defended the summer signings, he’s defended the squad. He’s accepted that they are all responsible for the signings, in other words sharing the blame, and said despite this we still have one of the best squads we have had in years. What he hasn’t made clear is that it was already one of our best ever squads and the dross bought in during the summer have just enlarged it without improving it at all.

10 of the eleven players that started on Saturday, were available last season. It was when Slav brought on two of the worst signings of an an abysmal summer window, that it all unravelled.

Well, you can hardly expect David Gold to admit that the summer signings have been disappointing – to say the least – he’s always upbeat and tries to put a positive spin on things, whatever the situation.

But he’s wrong to rise to this bait and has just managed to put himself in a position to be ridiculed – this is what makes Twitter a difficult medium for someone like him to be involved in. He’d be better off giving Twitter a miss for the foreseeable future!

I know I’ll get slated, but I think it was Slav’s kneejerk sub’s and at the time they were bought on,that was the main reason we lost.
Nordveit has played 4 different positions and not in the same place twice in a row.
He came on at a time we were under the cosh big time, and wasn’t up to speed. If Bilic was going to make changes he should have done it earlier.
No changes were needed he should have kept it as it was, until the whistle, bar Sakho.
I agree Zaza had a couple of decent chances to create one and score one he needs to go.he showed perfectly what he can’t do.
Generally a foreign player can take up to X Mas playing game in game out, sometimes longer .With that in mind,I really don’t know who is good and who is bad.bar Zaza.COYI

Of course he is going to defend the summer of misfit signings. It is about saving face and cutting losses in January. As for Carroll do we really need him?
