Michail Antonio’s display against Sunderland has drawn widespread praise from players and fans alike.
But his goal was the result of hours of practice on the training ground after he’d been urged to use his left foot a lot more .
He’s been putting in extra time only on the Friday before the game and explained: “Julian Dicks talked to me and we’ve been practising – it was great to score like that.”
David Gold believes Antonio has a chance of wining Hammer of the Year but of course has one big individual in front of him.
Having spoken exclusively to ClaretandHugh about the £7 million signing after the match he tweeted:”It was a great goal from Michail Antonio and gave us the three points that took us to 5th in the PL. come on Arsenal.
“Antonio’s effort after goal was amazing he’d win hammer of the year if Dimitri wasn’t in it, he still might if he plays like this.”
Gonna be tight ? I’m not voting , its a team game and it needs individual performances to achieve things , l won’t be choosing cos I appreciate them all . Ogbonna has been severely overlooked for his solid performances , he has been a huge plus and gets better every game ,give the award to everyone for their overall achievements this year .
Yeah, i agree. Noble works hard. A lot will vote for him. Good squad this year & it isn’t a foregone conclusion. Noble, Payet, Antonio, Kouyate, Lanzini, all have value & deserving in one way or another. What a great position to be in.
You only get 1 vote even if you own the club,
Kouyate will still need some beating as well,
Lanzini or Cresswell for young player of the year,
Antonio has only played 2/3 of the season,( not his fault )
Dimitri like yesterday goes missing in games,
Many will vote for Noble
It could be really tight this year
When you see Michail play 2 or 3 different positions in one game, no complaints,no drama head down battles all the way odd poor touch but a team player. After working his way into team he wins it for me
It will be hard to beat Payet for that award but they are the two standouts. One thing to be said for Antonio is that there were a number of doubters as to wether he would make the step up to Premier League. Well, he has certainly accomplished that & that has taken maximum effort on his part. Keep that standard up & it will be close in my opinion.
