Gold hopes Poyet gets his chance

ValenciaactionDavid Gold insists the Europa Cup campaign looks an ideal opportunity to give Diego Poyet some much needed match action.

The co chairman is uncomfortable with the lack of playing time given to the midfielder under Sam Allardyce and says: “This looks a good opportunity to him but of course it’s down to the new manager.”

DG explained that players were coming back to training at various stages and that he believed Poyet would be well up to speed by July 2.

He hopes that Andy Carroll may be ready but says that is 50/50 and Gold said: “That may see the likes of Elliott Lee come into the frame or whoever we have brought in to replace Carlton Cole.”

Gold insists these are entirely his own views and that manager Slave Bilic may well see differently but revealed that Diafra Sakho was fit whilst Enner Valencia would be one of the last back to Chadwell Heath after taking pat in the Copa America.

  1. He should have got a chance last season . He is head and shoulders a better bet than Noble who has absolutely nothing other than loyalty to offer .

  2. His chance and those of a few others will come to shine in the next couple of weeks. Even our much maligned Brazilian skipper will be back trimmer, fitter and raring to go……hold on scratch that I’m optimistic not insane wibble lol

  3. Is Poyet the one in the yellow shirt ?
BFS obviously did not like Poyet or he would have tried him to save his bacon
Suicide by playing Nolan (what a way to go)
He may never manage again, was it a plan to get out and become a pundit ?
Has he got enough money to keep the mud pool full for the rest of his life ?
