Gold lays out Irons summer transfer needs

David Gold believes a striker is the top priority for a West Ham team short on goals.

The West Ham co-chairman says  the club wants to bring in three or four top signings this summer and a striker will be high on the wanted list list.

Gold came out strongly defending the manager in a recent interview telling fans that he had achieved everything asked of him.

But there will be a more coordinated approach between the board and manager -whoever that may be – on who arrives at the club this season.

Speaking to ClaretandHugh Gold said: “I think it’s fair to say we need another striker – a player who can put pressure on Andy Carroll or play off him.

Start supporting Claret and Hugh today Claret & Hugh’s team of creators work with passion and pride to bring you the quality of content that keeps you coming back for more. Support for our creators, however big or small, will help us keep your Hammers content fresh, frequent and loyal to the club. £5 per month £10 per month £20 per month £50 per year

“We also need to look at the left back position and a couple of others perhaps, but we will make the money available to do what’s necessary.”

In the past the board has  received Sam Allardyce’s list of required players and gone out and tried to make them happen.

But there will be a more cooperative effort this summer between the management staff and the board after some high profile failures like Alou Diarra and Modibo Maiga.
