Gold claims he is ‘not powerless’ over ground-share

120416 LOCOG Aerials_037Chairman David Gold has come under pressure from fans to reveal whether another club will be allowed to share the Olympic Stadium with West Ham.

Using Twitter to communicate with Gold, Carlo Resinelli, a long-standing supporter, asked: “Is it true we are powerless to stop LLDC allowing another football club to share part-time or otherwise?”

Gold responded promptly, stating: “West Ham United football club is not powerless.”

But the answer has failed to silence supporters who believe there may be some substance to the speculation and rumours that are sweeping the east end.

The question was posed amid fresh claims that Spurs could still ask  Stadium operator, Vinci, to broker a ground-sharing arrangement with West Ham if negotiations with the FA over the use of Wembley are not concluded to the north Londoner’s satisfaction.

A very highly placed West Ham insider told ClaretandHugh exclusively: “We are tenants, so  it could happen. We keep saying we have a good deal, but it’s NOT as amazing as people think.

“Having said that nobody believes it will happen for a moment. From everything we are hearing and are being told it seems far more likely that they will  go to Wembley.

“In the very unlikely event of a ground share happening for one season our fixtures will always have priority and the stadium will have the look and feel of West Ham United’s home!”

  1. Can you imagine the time we play Spuds at the OS as the AWAY TEAM .. away dressing and away fans section 🙁

    This better not happen

  2. Over my dead body. If any such deal, god forbid, a clause must be made saying we will never be away team on the arena in the PL.

  3. Just never acceptable,
We should have made sure we had a bigger say in the situation,
Levy has no such thing as a satisfaction level,

  4. NO WEST HAM FAN SHOULD SET FOOT IN THAT PLACE IF THIS HAPPENS

I bought a S/T for next season but i will not go and will DEMAND a refund no ****en way will i want to share with them ****

  5. If Spurs hadn’t pulled all that stuff, continually throwing spanners in the works to keep us out of the OS they are the last team I want to see play home games there.
I know we probably won’t have much of a say beyond our first season in there, but it bears the question why we went through all those bidding processes if the end result is us sharing a stadium with our fiercest and most despised rivals for at least two seasons.

  6. Guys

I have said it before as not a great fan of what has been done overall (although certainly great for the board and the business) we are only tenants . . . yes we have right over fixtures, but if Spuds, Millwall or anyone come to an agreement to use the stadium when we not using then they can . . . enc of

    Sad but true

  7. It’s like asking the KKK to share with the Muslim brotherhood, and we know how that would work out,
FA be careful what you ask for,
Maybe the gooners could share with the Spuds for a couple of years as we will be top club in London and they can lick their wounds together,
Now that sounds like a good idea
