Gold reveals League’s VAR decision

Hammers co chairman David Gold has revealed there will be no significant changes in the way VAR is administered over the rest of the season.

Premier League clubs met today after disquiet had arisen following some wrong calls and discontent at the way the new technology is being operated.

A major problem for fans is that they are being left in the dark whilst decisions are considered and both areas were thought to be good reasons for changes to be made.

But it’s not going to be changed in any real way at all according to the co chairman who spoke about the shape and some of the issues that arose over what the BBC described as a “fractious” four and a half meeting where unsurprisingly no changes were recommended or proposed.

Gold has been a long term advocate of VAR but his appraisal of the contents of the meeting will probably upset some who were desperate for change or see it scrapped altogether.

He added: “”There is not going to be any significant change this season. There was a lot of debate but this is a brand new system, so we just have to be a bit more patient. What I can say is that VAR is alive and kicking.”

Ref Mike Riley spoke for just under two hours at what was described as a fractious four-and-a-half-hour meeting before it was decided no substantive changes would be made this season for fear it would affect the integrity of the competition.
