Gold simply can’t wait

David Gold gave a rapid two word response to the news that the Irons would lock horns with Manchester City at the London Stadium in their first game of the season.

And we reckon if there’s a good time to play the champions it will be in the first game of the campaign when nothing has settled down.

Day One has a habit of throwing up shock results although Manuel Pellegrini won’t consider it so if we grab the three points of course.

The Hammers co-owner made his own feelings very clear when he simply tweeted:  “The Premier League have confirmed that our first game of the season will at home against champions Manchester City and has been selected for live broadcast by BT Sport on Saturday, 10th August 2019 with a 12.30pm kick-off.
Carn’t wait. dg”

After the shocking start to last season the Hammers have a terrific chance of gaining a load of confidence by starting this one with a famous victory.

And if he has got his squad in place early and maybe having beaten Citeh in a dress rehearal in the Asia Cup in  August 11.

If the Hammers can push for a win or hold off for a draw that’ll be a great way to state their intention we are not here to play silly games this season and instead stage a smash on the top 7.

  1. One of the massive games out of the way early on . Great news . Win or lose it’s a big game to be rid of early doors .
    COYHAMMERS

  2. definitely agree a good time to play them 😀 win lose or draw first few games of the season anything can happen but let’s be honest we had Liverpool last year, City this we have got the worst of the opening day fixtures.

  3. Or alternatively, it’s a big game to be excited about! Think of all those Leeds fans ‘enjoying’ the Championship … again. As has been said on here today, if the next level is not worrying about relegation in the near future, that’s got to be a real positive. We’re having to invest just to stand still as it stands. Can we still afford a left back, please?

  4. “And if he has got his squad in place early and maybe having beaten Citeh in a dress rehearal(?) in the Asia Cup in August 11”. Doesn’t make sense, mate, and the odd comma wouldn’t go amiss. Mind you, it maintains the usual level of literacy/numeracy on the site.

    • Thanks for the lesson Terry – most grateful. Given that you noticed the missing commas after ‘early’ plus the two ins’ it sounds as if you coped.Fascinating that there remain people more interested in correcting grammar than reading the news. 4/10 must do better 🙂
