Gold slams “don’t be tight” slur

David-GoldDavid Gold has hit out at a Twitter follower who has claimed the club are dragging their feet in the transfer market.

Despite huge bids for  Lyon striker Alexandre Lacazette, snapping up Sofiane Feghouli on £60k a week wages and negotiating what would be a mega loan deal for Gokhan Tore, the co chaairman came under fire on the social network.

The club is determined to bring in a £25 million plus striker and Gold promised in the summer that six or seven new players will be brought in to the club.

However, some are showing the usual lack of patience required at this time of the year despite a sensational summer next term.

After news broke that Michy Batshuayi was on his way to Crystal Palace his follower tweeted: “ pull your finger out and stop being tight.

Gold immediately responded: “It’s not about being tight – it’s about being right. dg”

That appeared to confirm stories which we have broken exclsuively on this site that the club has cooled considerably on the Belgin international striker.

  1. Why have the club cooled now if it’s not the money ?
Have they got other deals near ?
I hope they are not waiting to see how much money they get for Dimitri first before they spend,
You can only watch a player for so long to know whether he has got it or not,
We need a team of players from day 1 that have played together, not just Europe but with Chelski and City coming up early if we are really going for a top 4 place we need to win those games or at least not loose them

  2. Batshuayi is not worth that much, like AC’s £35mil transfer to the Micky Mousers it is a ridiculous amount of money for someone that is highly unlikely to justify the fee. He is 90% hype a decent player but no more than that, Sakho will probably score as many goals as he would which I would reckon to be 15 or so a season at the FAPL level.

  3. The Mirror has reported Batshuayi is stalling on his move to the Eagles. It is looking more like an agent trying to maximize the return for his player. The other factor is Champion’s League football. Why do we struggle always to attract a top player? We were fortunate with Lanzini, Payet and Sahko.

  4. It has been reported elsewhere that the player is still waiting on a better offer.”If you want the player meet the price” end of quote.
