Gold so proud of this Iron

David Gold couldn’t be happier that his prophecy that Michail Antonio would be calle up for England has come true.

He told ClaretandHugh last week that he believed the Hammers sensation was a perfect Sam Allardyce player and so it has turned out with the former club boss calling him into his first squad.

Gold – speaking to us exclusively – said: “I was there when he couldn’t get in the team, I was beside him when he got 20 minutes against Man City last season and wasn’t seen again.

I kept telling him his time would come. I promised him that Β and when it did he showed himself capable of blossoming as a player out of adversity. He refuses to be fazed at anything that happens to him and I feel very proud of him and for him

“He has a fantastic charcter and never gives up on any situation as his life shows. I felt Sam would love him and so it’s proved.

“The boy deserves everything he is getting and I wish him fantastic success when he steps out for his country. It’s brilliant for him, the club and the fans.”

  1. It goes without saying that everyone feels the same !!
He has a great character , and a lovely bloke !
We all wish him well , but watch out for the snides in the camp , stirling and the spuds can’t be trusted . Specially the spuds ! Don’t forget he burst their title dream ! Sneaks in the camp. ,-)!

  2. He deserves every plaudit going. As someone else put it “West Ham legend in the making”….And he’s just getting started!
If they put the crosses to the far post, he’ll get a couple…. assuming he gets a start!
    Puts a smile on everyone’s face….
So pleased he gets support from DG

  3. Gold is right. Proof of where a great attitude can get you to. Sakho should watch and learn.

    • I think he will be inspired by Antonio. If Sakho works hard enough, he may well see the day when he and Antonio might team up together in much the same manner he ddid in the ‘good old days’ with Enner Valencia. As much as I loved Enner, I think that a Sakho-Antonio combo could really be fantastic; however, it all lies in Sakho’s hands (and head). If the ‘chemistry’ is there, we may one day see Sakho scoring 30 goals between them!

      • Sean had some really interesting things to say about him. He’s got 2 estranged relationships both with children (I think), he doesn’t seem to make any friends…he’s pretty lonely and unsettled, and feels the club don’t respect him with such comparitively low wages…
Apparently he has apologised to the team, and they have accepted it and are apparently really impressed with his attitude; really knuckling down. The prob that Sean pointed out is that he has a real back problem…and as a result of the West Brom medical, everyone knows about it. Sean seemed to think he would only be worth 3-4 million, so maybe he is worth keeping on.
Maybe he needs somehow to be helped to be more sociable. Noble put him in his testimonial squad – he took some selfies… They have all these sports psychologists etc; can’t the club help out a bit more??
Or should it be “We’ve given you every opportunity; take your sh1t elsewhere?”…I’m now more in the former camp…

        • You can have a certain amount of sympathy for him but that only goes so far – the onus must be on him to get himself fit, not be so arrogant, show some humility and make the most of his talent!

Failing that medical at West Brom should be a massive wake-up call, if he doesn’t sort himself out you can see his career going down the drain – which would be a great shame – lets’s hope for the best!

  4. Hmmm…I think I need to re-phrase this big time! He has 2 children form 2 different relationships in 2 different countries; both relationships have broken down.

  5. Who cares how many kids he has where or whether his relationships have broken down. What do you think this place is a relationship counselling site.

  6. You know how it is JB even if P1ss N Wind ain’t got something interesting to say he still has to be seen.Give it an hour or two & the girlies, hairdressers comments will come out from the troll.
