David Gold is trilled to bits that Declan Rice has made the Premier League breakthrough he truly believes is incredibly difficult for teenagers.

And he admits that once the boy establishes himself as a first time regular there will be nobody happier than him whilst sticking firmly to the view that it’s incredibly diffcult for teens to make it in the Premier League.

He said: “If Declan Β proves me wrong Β by becoming a first time regular there will be nobody happier than me.”

Manager Slaven Bilic showed his faith in the 18 year old when throwing him on at Old Trafford in the 61st minute and in his half hour on the pitch the under 23s skipper didn’t put a foot wrong.

And Gold said: ” He came on with 70 odd thousand watching and looked as though he had been doing it all his life – it’s a thrilling moment for him and the club.

“He has a lot of confidence and it was a privilege to see him perform so well against one of the world’s top clubs.

“It truly is not easy for teenagers to break into Premier League first teams whatever may be said and for West Ham to have produced a player of this quality at such a young age isΒ er may be said and for West ham to have produced such a talent is truly wonderful”

  1. Has looked good whenever I see him and he is mobile and athletic . Hope that means that the slug is yesterdays Capt Awful . Long may he remain in the changing room .

    • Let’s see what happens at the saints 😎
β™Ώ to start πŸ˜• unless carvhalo. Comes straight in ? Even then I think he will drop obiang for him 😎 he needs a mystery groin injury like the poppodom πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚

    • So after 348 games and 40 to 50! Goals Bubbkes thinks Noble is a slug! He would not have the courage to say that in a Green Street pub. The guy may have been off pace last season (in part due to carrying a hernia) but at the weekend he still put in an effort that was only matched by Hernandez. The guy deserves respect rather than the coward Bubbles sniping in line..

      • Interesting logic johny. Because I have an opinion based clearly on the evidence before us I am a coward !! Perhaps you should look at yourself . You are the coward for not having the balls to accept that the loyal Noble is way past it . As for effort on Sunday I reckon you were still in the gutter in Green Street after one too many in the pub . Noble was awful beyond belief . In the first 15 mins he was caught in possession at least 3 times , had attacking players running past him as though “he was in diving boots” and hilariously headed an easy clearance back at goal .

  2. he was ok. but it was WAY better to have someone who wasn’t lead footed in there, thats all.

    • Its like he’s wearing diving boots 😎 he scurrys round the park and doesn’t get close to anybody or close down ? He’s finished , it happens but he has to accept that fact, its hard for the man , I genuinely feel for him but he needs to come to terms or this criticism does not stop! Bilic needs to grow a pair πŸ˜‰

      • wouldn’t say 100% he’s finished. he’s a squad player (and obviously club captain material) right now. the kind of guy you use if you’ve 2 or 3 injuries in midfield OR need to have on the bench to see out a game where you’re 1-0 up with 15 to play (we vs the spuds). for those roles, he’s still my man. just doesn’t seem a first name on the team sheet any longer.

      • spot on salmon ….keep leaping

  3. If Noble looks at his performance and compares it to Rice who came on when the team were capitulating he should be having a conversation with Bilic or his team and saying that Rice deserves the chance to start in front of him or for that matter any of the central defenders. I am not sure what is going on with Reid, at the end of last season he was in mostly good form but at the start of this one he is nowhere near that level defensively. I am also not sure why Bilic plays him on the right side of a back four he doesn’t look comfortable there and Collins is a natural in the position, Reid has generally looked very good playing in Ogbonna’s position or in a back 3, whenever he is right side in a back 4 we seem to ship loads of goals (which isn’t down entirely to him but has happened to often to be overlooked). I am still convinced we have the quality to get 60 – 65 points this season and hopefully if Carvalho arrives we will have filled the position that Alex Song performed to give us more stability at the back.

    • Reid is at his best when he’s got reliable people around him; that aint the case at the moment. Put Rice alongside him with Zaba at RB and Cress at LB, and Robert is ones uncle.
In case someone says Rice should be in midfield, Carvalho is going in there, which makes us even stronger.

      • I would be happy with that mate drop Oggy to the bench, I hope Cressie can find the form he showed under Allardyce, on that form he is England’s best left back last season he was not at the same level which may have been down to injuries.

        • I think 32 we haven’t have enough players who can stand on their own 2 feet. Cressie will also play better when he plays among reliable players, and several others too. Now we are buying players who can lead the others so with Carvalho and the other new boys ( including Rice ) I think other players will be back at their best.

  4. We haven’t the squad for a back four. Zaba is off the pace and cresswell is going backwards and cannot defend to save his life IMO! Reid rice ogbonna in a 3 is the way to go with what we have , Collins and fonte are like Nobel past their best and no pace , ginge big heart but a mistake or 3 every game !
Antonio lanzini kouyate to come back is going to make a big difference and if carvhalo comes it changes the outlook of the team drastically , time for a clear out of all deadwood but will not happen !☺ maybe January sales πŸ˜‰

    • I think Zab has been pretty good Laz he is not as fast as he was for sure but he reads the game well and looks good on the ball, that’s in my opinion of course which ain’t worth a whole lot πŸ˜„πŸ˜„πŸ˜„ against Martial and Rashford most would struggle but he did pretty well. He is only a short term solution but hopefully he can teach Byram the role and we can see him develop πŸ‘

      • Yes 32 , good on the ball , intelligent player but no pace and protection he got at city!
He’s arbeolla mk 2 IMO ! And we are still all over the place defensively! He isn’t going to change that ? Right or wrong that’s what I think πŸ˜‰ don’t knock you’re opinion mate its what you believe πŸ˜‰ and hopefully byrum will come good under him ? I’m still not convinced he’s ready though , might be better for him to go back to Leeds on loan
Get some game time in an environment he enjoyed and build that confidence up he’s lost since coming here πŸ˜‰ then bilic can put Antonio at r/b πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚

  5. Gold likes a youngster openly jesues can’t believe it. But Rice has been great since Westley called him up to Under 23s and is composed physical and a leader at 18 and called up for Irleand who have hood CBs and mids. So congrqts to the lad he is fantastic and I agree with Laz I think we look better in back 3 I would like Rice in middle to play out and get fwd. Reid Rice Ogbonna. I think we would play that Formation bc we ended w It doing so well with Spurs win and only 1 lost in 7 and even without Antonio and even made Fonte look ok at times.
But since we got Zab he doesn’t have the legs for a with wingback we went back to 4-2-3-1 which doesn’t work against big teams like Man U who attack freely and Lukaku.
Zab started good but 2nd half he was struggling other were too but don’t think he could play wing back Byram Fernades has and Antonio can but better Up front for goals and assists.
But they won’t to play Zab bc name same as Hart tho I think Adrian should have started yesterday Hart was to earn #1 and hasn’t to me yet.
But beside the point after last season and years it is good to see an Academy player getting games and has earned himself more chances and if Skav doesn’t give then he will hear from us
