Gold: “We can overcome injury worries”

|

Gold2Upbeat David Gold believes the Irons will have a real go against Manchester United tomorrow and said: “Injuries or not we have a real chance.”

The co chairman is unfazed by the recent wins to games played ratio ( three from ten) told ClaretandHugh: “Whatever you want to say this is not the United of old and we have  fantastic win record at Upton Park.

“I will go to my seat on Sunday expecting to win the game as will most of our fans. Yes, we have some injuries at the back but that’s part of the business. You have to overcome that.

“It will be interesting top see who gets the shout up front as I am aware many fans would love to see Diafra (Sakho) and Enner (Valencia) back together.

“That’s the manager’s decision and we’ll have to wait and see but they are both fit so the opportunity is there.

“It’s a always a great day when Manchester United come to the Boleyn and I’m looking for the win as they are a good team to beat and after this we have a tough league programme coming up.”

David, our troubles are entirely down to our manager – how he cannot see Enner and Sakho as our best two front men is to say the least quite unbelievable. David I am glad to see that we want this – I think the team want this too. The only person who does not want it is Allardyce. David please listen to us when we say we want him out and the sooner the better for our club.

Probably tomorrow Sakho and Valencia will play together. If West Ham will loose BFS will have the perfect excuse to come back to his favourite duo Carroll/Nolan.

Let’s hope that if the Sahko/Valencia duo are let loose on Man Utd and we do win.As we know a loss would be the platform for more excuses from Allardyce. Yes Mattefumi he would justify using Carroll/Nolan in the event of a loss.In my humble opinion I think some of our better players are frustrated under Allardyce being played out of position and not being utilized to their strengths. For example Valencia seems to struggle playing upfront with Carroll and Nolan being played at the expense of Downing in the diamond.I have always thought Gold & Sullivan are happy with where we are at present and don’t want to interfere at the expense of giving Allardyce a reason to sue when his contract is not renewed at seasons’s end.

Yeah its great to know that the chairmen know what the fans want,so clearly BFS knows what we fans want but he will go out of his way to not give it to us.Even if Sak & Valencia scored a goal a piece in the next couple of games he will only be looking for any excuse to reinstate Carroll back into the team.We will never get the majorities wish to have the two lads given a run in the team together while Sam is in charge. Its just a fact that it wont happen. How many other managers in the Prem these days have a love-in with the big man up front tactics. Its had its day, just like the dinosaur & his prehistoric tactics & his team selections. We really do need a guy willing to embrace the type of football needed for consistent success in this league. We had that earlier in the season. But it was more by luck through injuries than any innovative management by the genius.

  • canchaz says:

More likely Sam will go for another of his famous defensive line-ups with one striker and a midfield designed to backpedal all match long.
Given that Sam has ‘hung his hat’ on a team around Carroll, the only way I see him putting those two back together and risk being made to look foolish, is if the two D’s order him too and, if Gold is to be believed, that just isn’t going to happen.
We should all brace ourselves for a dull defensive style game to the end of season with enough points on the board for Sam to keep his job but not enough to win us anything, which, I believe is how Sam likes it, for he’s in his comfort zone like that and really doesn’t want anymore pressure that would come from managing a top 4/6 team.

Yeah well it seems a lifetime ago that the two Davids were telling anyone who listened that we were playing the entertaining, stylish type of football they & us requested.Seems they have gone very quiet on that front, from just about the same time as Carroll & Nolan reappeared on the scene. It frustrates me so much to know we have players capable of playing fast, flowing football & they are being held back from doing this by BFS’s safety first approach & love for certain players. We could have one of the most entertaining teams in the league, but we are being denied the chance to watch it.

Is this DG trying to tell BFS this is what he is expecting on Sunday when he takes his seat,
If so that could be a good sign for us all because DG is the only reason he is still here as we all know DS wanted him out last year,

  • johnham1 says:

The chairmen for all the superb work they have done, have failed the fans – they have sided with Allardyce instead of us. He should have been sacked at the end of last season. The requirement was to play more attractive football. He has not met this requirement – it did happen for 6-7 games when Carroll and Nolan were injured. Look what he has done to us – ffs can ye not see this.

  • rugbyirons says:

Cole will start with one up as he parks the bus.He won’t play the obvious now the chairman has said that’s what he and the fans want .He is only interested in his salary and bigotry.

  • rads45 says:

Wouldnt surprise me at all if he played one up top & packed the midfield. He will trot out some line about having to stop United playing to protect our defense because of injuries. If the worst came to the worst im damn sure i would prefer us to give it a real go & maybe lose 2-3 than play 90 mins of BFS negative stuff & only lose 0-1.
