Gold: “We have a fantastic opportunity”

|

davidgoldsummerDavid Gold believes the Hammers have a “fantastic opportunity” of three points at Selhurst Park this afternoon declaring: “I think events down there this week should work in Palace’s favour.”

The Irons co chairman has a mere 25 minute car trip to Selhust Park – his local club – but admits it will be hard to show his face in the office next week if we lose.

He said: “Most of the employees are Palace fans at my firm so there’s been plenty of banter all week.”

The team will be selected just before kick off and it’s likely that James Tomkins will be pressed into service despite not being 100 per cent with his hamstring.

But beyond that the team remains a closely guarded secret with Gold saying: “All I know is that their caretaker boss Keith Millen would probably want a few of ours if he had the chance.

“I think we have a fantastic opportunity this afternoon. I know the game is played on grass but on paper I think we are the better team. ”

And he quipped: “I’m looking for a fantastic victory even if it leads to a lack of productivity among my employees next week.”
