Gold: finding a new striker is our biggest priority

gold_2446989bDavid Gold has allayed fan fears that we won’t be signing a new centre forward by declaring: “We are looking for a striker, that is our key.”

Talking to Sky Sports News, the co chairman declared: “We have been very unfortunate in losing (Enner) Valencia disappointingly before the season kicked off. We already believed we needed a striker because of Andy Carroll not rejoining the squad until September.

“Now we really must find another centre forward before the transfer window closes.”

“We can’t really go into the new season without at least bringing in one. Yes we would like two, but we have to be realistic.”

  1. DG there is one available for £15m at QPR, stop talking about it and bput a bid in.

  2. It’s going to be £6 million Borini and Another loan I think,
Maybe Song and now a winger to replace Alfitano and Jarvis,
    Moses or Fer
Just a big guess like the papers,

  3. On another note.. what bout bringing back reserve team football ?? Then the youngsters would get the chance to test their self against the men and not just other under 21s ?

    • Quite agree Firefigterx or as Greg Dyke proposed B teams that can go no higher than one league below the A teams. Works well enough in Spain. Without competitive football how are the younger players supposed to make this transition.

  4. Let’s be straight about this. We would rather have one top quality striker than two mediocre ones. Let’s go and get someone like austin now while we are still dining out on the arsenal game and are an attractive proposition.

  5. Funny how quiet Slav. is about a striker. Only Gold seems to be constantly talking about it.
Of course it could become urgent if Sakho has got himself into big trouble with the law.

  6. What do you expect Slaven to do,organize special interviews just to talk about a striker, lol. He said last week he wanted one, isnt that enough. He doesnt need to keep repeating himself does he 😀

  7. Mystic Bradders is back on WHTID his dongle must be working again!!! Bradders will point you in the right direction, he’s said Hernadez,Austin, Sow, I don’t know where he gets this inside knowledge but I haven’t heard us linked with these players at all over the summer lol,his reappearance is truly visionary thanks Bradders your flock has missed you…

  8. Bradders is possibly the worst Mystic to ever grace a forum. He is going for a near faultless 100% failure rate with his mystic predictions, lol

    • His next prediction will be that we’re interested in a unnamed player who used to play on Hackney marshes, played at a unnamed club who play in a colour and has two legs two arms and is between 21 and 33, won’t give a name incase we don’t get him but will say he’s the player he thought he was if we do lol

  9. Who is the big lad at west Brom who caused us so much trouble last year but Pullis does not rate him and there are 2 new ones above him in the pecking order ,
He holds the ball up he has fast feet and could be available,
Just trying to think out side the norm before people start talking about Spud rejects that will never happen,
Offer Jarvis,AlfitanoMagia and Nolan to OPR plus £5 million for Austin and JOB if they need a little more
    Job Done

  10. We have had the perfect opportunity to ride the crest of the Arsenal win this week and make something happen. Instead we have got ourselves into a media frenzy with all things David Gold and Joey Barton. As the week progressed I was starting to come around to the idea of Barton being a suitable option anywhere across the midfield and certainly improving things off the bench for us. I don’t think the Song deal will come off so I am not sure what other options there are after that. Previous Gold and Sulli have mentioned how important it is to get your transfer dealings done early in a window. It is a shame the defensive mid and striker positions have taken this long to sort out. We have a problem at the moment and that problem is if we have to chase a game. Although our starting XI is looking relatively strong we have nothing on the bench. Nolan, Jarvis and Maiga are hardly going to come on and turn a game. Especially at home when teams play defensive we have no options to turn to. This is why getting in these final two signings is so critical.
