Gold’s magical end to a horrible week

Exclusive

Pic by ArfaSlaven Bilic West Ham New Manager and David Gold 12-06-2015Emotional David Gold described the win over Crystal Palace as the best day of his season so far and “right up there with the best during my time in charge.”

Describing the victory over Palace as “beautiful” he declared: “It was special for so many reasons – the second half was amazing to watch with the manager getting everything spot on.

“Andy Carroll’s goal was totally amazing and Manu Lanzini’s was right out of the top drawer. It was a wonderful, wonderful day.”

Gold explained: “The circumstances of the week make the win so special because like everybody else I was sick to the pit of my stomach when I heard the news of Dimi Payet.

“Heย has been adored by the fans, the kids and to hear that news was awful. It had been a horrible week and to see the team respond as they did in the second half was magical.

Speaking exclusively to ClaretandHugh he added: “Obviously promotion back to the Premier League and many of last season’s performances were incredibly special but today was right up there with them all… a special day in my West Ham life.

“We were quite outstanding at times with Sam Byram looking excellent when the manager changed it all and went 4-4-2. It’s been a seriously difficult week but Slaven remained entirely focused and got everything spot on. It was great.”

  1. New ‘clean’ words to the song

We’re miffed off Payet, it’s all over yet
I just don’t think you understand
You signed for Slav to play , but now you want away
    You’re history, completely Payet

The boys did us proud today COYI

  2. Facebook made me laugh today. Hugh has a proper pop at Noble at half time and then deletes his words in the second half haha

    • Yeah cos i was out of order and it was unecessary

      • But he was pretty ineffective in the first half. He just slows things down – on the few times we break at pace he never looks up for the killer ball. The difference in the second half wasn’t Noble, it was Byram for Ogbonna, another player who can’t move forwards. I’d love to see the stats for Oggy’s passing; what percentage go backwards or to the keeper?

  3. Lol a bit like a bloke i had near me.He spent most of the first half moaning about Feghouli & by the end of the second half he wanted his babies๐Ÿ˜‚
Well happy for Feghouli he is getting some praise.I watched him quite a lot for Valencia, only on Sky not in the flesh obviously & he frightened fullbacks to death a lot of the times i saw him.Ok he was/is erratic but many wingers are.Look at Bolasie & Zaha at Palace last year, one week unplayable, the next week they couldnt cross a road let alone a football.
I hope Feg isnt sold,as per he was writtn off well too early by some in my opinion ๐Ÿ˜‰
But what do i know im just a rabid dog from C&H ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚

    • Must have been sitting near me. Guy moaning at Feghouli even when he was making good runs. Wanted a contract extension by the end!

      • Lol yeah the guy near me was really funny moaning. As the game went on & Feghouli was flying his mates were taking the rise out of his first half whining big time ๐Ÿ˜

  4. Yeah Feghouli looks a lot slower than he did playing for Valencia, I am glad he scored a goal like the chance he missed the other day, good for him, he looks better with Byram there also, Byram actually did as much in 45 mins as Noble did in 90 statistically speaking, Noble had his best game of the season in the second half, I want to see Fernandes given a chance against Boro alongside the imperious Obiang but we showed up big time today and everyone deserves max credit COYI !!!

  5. First half the game had respect the point written all over it.but second half was brilliant. I’ve always been a big fan of Andy Carroll anyway and he’s my boys favourite player but second half he was brilliant. Man of the match. The best overhead volleyed goal I’ve ever seen I think. Probably in the top ten West Ham goals of all time. Great to see feghouli on the scoresheet. I love his work rate even if everything he tries doesn’t always come off and sometimes he over complicated things. Reminds me a bit of ‘tricky’ Trevor Sinclair. Great to see Lanzini doing a tevez into the crowd. Great team performance. Great game.

  6. Great to see so many brits in the team today. We are always at our best when we have a strong British spine in the team. These boys understand teamwork passion commitment and work ethic. Who needs payet? Dmitri Payet. Give me noble carroll cresswell Antonio every time.

    • …..and Byram. The kid was class yesterday. Lots to prove and did it well, freeing up Feghouli to be a proper winger.

      • Byram was always going to be a good signing. He is a very good player. He is still young, learning as he goes a long but he will be a proper good player.
He is just another example of fans writing a player off too quickly ๐Ÿ˜‚

  7. A magnificent win, 3 goals, up to 12th, the stadium rocking, only a couple of thousand white seats on show, Sullivan and co playing a blinder on the Payet stuff, the moaners might struggle to slag our club this week.

  8. Like the fact that Carroll’s goal was intentional and that Antonio deliberately played the ball behind him. It must Ben special when stuff you do on the training puns comes off.

  9. What a day yesterday, first time in the new stadium and I loved it, in the lower tier across from the scoring goal, second half was outstanding, oblong lanzini feghouli and Caroll immense, byram looks the deal, overlaps well but knows how to get tight on his man and crunch in a tackle if required, he got Townsend taken off, Reid and hinge immense at back, noble is my only worry, great attitude but legs are gone, was hoping to see Fernandes in there whole kouyate is away, fans were brilliant after let’s be honest a mediocre first half of football, was at Upton Park previously and it’s sad to see it on that state, went to a question answer session with Mark Ward and stevie Lomas before game and had a great laugh, two cracking blokes with great stories, I loved the boleyn but it’s history now, if we can win games the new stadium can be our future, we the fans just have to make it a fortress by singing our hearts out like yesterday, COYI

  10. just noticed the AirFrance ad Hugh, some nice deals.. wonder how much it is for one way ticket to Marseille.

  11. Until yesterday I thought the goal I would probably remember the rest of my life was that P**** free kick against Palace last season ( plus a few from the old days of course). Just stood with my mouth open & looked at the guy next to me. His mouth was open too & we both just said ****
But I have wiped that from my memory & in its place will be the AC goal yesterday. The other one never happened. It is not even history. The day that creep walks away will be like wiping dog muck off your shoe.

    • Its amazing how a team can play like a team when they aint looking to give the ball to a Fat Frog with no passion.
Got to love Hippo Head in his interview post match..’ We gifted them three goals’ lol Ok then no great moves or skill on our players part then sour puss ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚

  12. I thought the atmosphere yesterday was as good as i’ve witnessed. It was rocking when AC buried his cycle kick. With a crowd like that, it will become intimidating to visitors.

  13. I still think AC could take the role of crowd favourite. I have never seen him give less than his best. Can’t remember any bad reports even when the press have tried to stir up stuff about Newcastle. There is only the one problem. Won’t even say the word….if only, if only….
