Peculiar how some players were dropped like hot cakes last August and virtually forced out on loan – some such as James Ward-Prowse and Maxi Cornet left on deadline day. It Seemed West Ham United couldn’t wait to get rid of several squad members fast enough, presumably to free up places for subsequent ‘incomers’ – who then didn’t materialise seeing as we still have unfilled places in our squad.
From sources today comes news that defender Nayef Aguerd’s loan is going so well – as we’ve reported frequently – at Real Sociedad this season – that none other than Real Madrid are interested in buying the Moroccan. According to Spanish source fichajes.net, reported in hardtackle.com:”Nayef Aguerd is the subject of interest from Real Madrid. The reigning La Liga champions are scouring the market for a centre-back heading into the summer transfer window after Eder Militao picked up a season-ending knee injury.
The Moroccan international has thus emerged as a target. However, Los Blancos will have to break the loan deal between Real Sociedad and West Ham United to land him.”
Complicated but not impossible negotiations might need to follow!
Aguerd has been an ever-present in the Sociedad team, starting 12 games this season and amassed over 1000 minutes of game time. If true, Tim Steidten (pictured) had better get his eye back on the ball fairly quickly because there’s potentially a £30 million transfer fee up for grabs which would buy West Ham a new, up and coming attacking midfielder in the January window.
Alternatively he could come back at the end of the season and become our fourth centre back, after all, if he’s good enough for Real Madrid..
He wasn’t suited to Moyesball
Steindten should be taking the blame for the abysmal signings he clearly has no real idea what WEST HAM NEED worst waste of money ever
There is a big assumption that the journalism is reporting the truth in their article which as we know from reading all sites including this one, it is a creative act more often than grounded in reality.
Think it’s fairly safe to say in todays World if you operate on the premise that 1% of what’s reported comes to fruition and less than 3% is factual, here I am using the same amount of reporting integrity and evidence based assumptions 😉 you probably won’t be a million miles away from the truth.
Having said that I think Aguerd in a team that plays with a high amount of possession is an assett, he is a decent passer of the ball, skillful with good pace, if we can get Real Madrid to part with £50m for him let’s go for it, with the supposed £85m from Arsenal for Kudus and the £300m for Danny Ings will be quite a Christmas when the magical figures materialise and we can rebuild again !!!
Not a Premiership player!
Aguerd & JLo are both better off in La Liga 🇪🇸
Clearly Aguerd hates Westham and so won’t be back . Sell him quick .
A modern day Faubert
Ultimately, he is probably a player ill suited to the Premier League. But if he can shine abroad, all’s well and good. Let’s make sure we cash in on that.
Wasn’t Aguerd rather on the keen side to leave? If that’s correct do you think he’ll want to return after a positive season away?
I’m not sure he could replicate his form in the Premier League but there again the defence we had with Moyes that season and the season before was horrible at best. Very difficult to shine in that environment.
