Good news at last as top transfer target wants West Ham!

It is fair to say that the transfer window has not been productive or positive so far for West Ham United: Selling a top asset to an arch-rival in just 48 hours shows the speed with which other clubs can act: West Ham by way of contrast seem to drag their feet and undergo endless, frustrating bouts of ‘re-considering’ or procrastination.

Painful to be a Hammers fan right now waiting in vain for news of new signings after the exodus of senior players. Lack of available funds- we are told , means all of the deals have been own the back burner: Also a lack of European football, no doubt, means ambitious players want to be in the top tiers of football which West Ham most certainly are not.

Good news though appears around the corner: Top Hammers target – whether he’s labelled a ‘defender who can attack’ or a ‘midfielder who can defend’ – the purchase of top young talent El Hadji Malick Diouf meanders tantalisingly ever nearer nearer, with news from top sports journo Sébastian Vidal on his twitter / x feed:

“El Hadji Malick Diouf wants to join West Ham. Described as “powerful” and “Champions League level,” the Slavia Prague star has given the green light. West Ham are preparing a new offer after a £17m bid was rejected. Potter is pushing hard.”

Linked with Leeds United, Diouf actually wanting to come to east London is a major coup – and surely will enable the Hammers to get this one over the line as Slavia Prague have set the asking price at a non-negotiable £21.5 million. Simples.

Surely even the Hammers can’t cock this one up now.

From the old Bobby Moore Upper to the Billy Bonds' stand these days - sometimes- have to admit I have not renewed my season ticket... I've been watching since '03 and a supporter since about 1970..
Favourite player - Dean Ashton: Still watch YouTube repeats of the Cup Final of 2006 hoping in vain that Shaka Hislop grows six inches and stops Steven Gerrard's injury time equaliser. Can tell I'm getting old knowing I saw both Mark Noble's debut and his last game at West Ham.
Pulling on a Claret and Blue replica shirt still makes me feel the same butterflies as when I was seven years old. Magic.

Big Tim would never have let it come to this 🙁

  • Colin says:

I wouldn’t bet on it, us hammers fans all know that sullivan makes low ball bids so that he doesn’t actually have to buy the player and he doesn’t like spending money. You have to seriously ask yourself does he want success for west ham or to keep the money for himself. I know the answer already as do most hammers fans. Deep pockets and no ambition that sums sullivan up perfectly.

  • Bournehammer says:

This deal could’ve been wrapped up 2 weeks ago. Pathetic.

  • Kenny Irons says:

I’m sure he’ll change his mind, once the drugs wear off…….
    SACK THE BOARD !

  • OLIVER says:

Sullivan takes the fans for fools he drags the negotations out to near the end of the transfer deadline so in the end the fans are just happy to get maybe two players in instead of the four or five promised

Another Joe average, shouldn’t expect too much , but then we have turned into an average team anyway, comes to something when these are the dizzy heights we have reached , have to be concerned why anyone with halve a brain would come to this circus? Would you really want to play for sideshow Bob?
    Well said Ray.

  • mark wiggins says:

Pay the money Sullivan get it done now

  • pat says:

Translation…..West Ham daft enough to pay me huge wages so that is why it is my dream to play for West Ham kissing the bank balance not the badge though.

  • Mark says:

    21.5 mill
Cue Sullivan “hold my beer” and offering a loan to buy £1.45 and a mars bar paid over 5 years

  • Ray says:

While I am not in a position to question his ability, I have to doubt his mentality when he still wants to play for a disorganized rabble that cannot reach a decision to do anything that makes sense in the context of Premier League football. That being said, he hasn’t signed yet.

  • Phil Baker says:

In reality the price set for Westham to pay would be a new record high for that league . This suggests that he’s over priced and if Westham pay it would be guilty of over paying for the umpteenth time . Lopetegui and Potter managed to turn an 85 million rated player ( Kudus ) into a 55 million Judus and so if Westham get him hopefully his value doesn’t mysteriously plummet after a year or so like so many other Westham buys .

  • Jacob says:

Wants to play for West Ham. I’m speechless.

  • Jeeps says:

Cock it up_ don’t bet on it.
How many corners do whu have to turn before making a signing?

  • David Pope says:

“Surely even the Hammers can’t cock this one up now.”
    Martin….it’s West Ham….🫣

  • Mick bering says:

Surely even the hammers cant cock this up now WANT A BET coyi To be honest if Sullivan cant or wont push this deal through now we might as well all go home and shut up shop

Let me express my opinion about this deal. In my opinion, we swing like a pendulum from old expensive footballers at the end of their careers to very young overvalued players from weak leagues. This is very risky. Both of them will be difficult to sell for more later because of their high cost and big salaries.

  • Steveo says:

Looks a decent player kept saka quiet against England quick and can score a goal. If we fail with this one then we will be in deep trouble next season
