Graham Potter has revealed that Lucas Paquetá has not trained at all this week but hopes he will be back for Monday’s game against Chelsea.
With the Hammers currently decimated by injuries, the news will have everyone more than a little concerned.
The Brazilian has been in excellent form since Potter replaced Julen Lopetegui as head coach and picked up the man of the match award against Aston Villa last weekend.
Paquetá has been deployed in the ‘false 9’ position to cover for the absence of Niclas Füllkrug, Michail Antonio, and captain Jarrod Bowen.
West Ham’s record signing has thrived since the switch and will be a big loss to the team’s ability to create if he misses the game against Chelsea. he has been like a player reborn having been in the doldrums for over a year and credit must go to Potter for tapping into the Paq-Man’s undoubted ability.
Despite the concerns about Paquetá, the Hammers gaffer seemed upbeat about Jarrod Bowen’s chances of making the game when speaking in his pre-match press conference.
Paqueta is playing better, no doubt about it but it wouldn’t be difficult! I’m not convinced, we all know and see how often he gives the ball away and just like a Brazilian spends far too much time rolling on the ground! The refs are already onto him, it hinders us! JD☘️⚒️
The 10-0 Bury game was when Alan Devonshire stuffed his knee when the goalie came flying out and cleaned him up as I remember. Ironically I think it was Mellor who played for Fulham
Yes Paul Hilton was his name
Injuries?
Have no fear replacements are on the way so we’re told.
Believe that and you will believe pigs fly.
We have enough to avoid relegation, just.
Lucas is playing much better since the change of manager, but cmon, don’t muck about with the facts on this player. He spends to much of his game giving the ball away and a lot of it horizontal to the surface of the playing field. If as you say our record signing is thriving under our new manager surely we have to see more end product.
So, another player hits the treatment room. There should be no rock unturned to get our team improved.
No more low ball offers, fake bids please.
It’s our club too🤷🏼🤞
The few days rest will have done Lucas Paqueta some good. Today is Thursday and the game is on Monday……I’m confident he’ll be ready.
Westham will be threadbare against a Chelsea team experiencing some poor form . It’s a shame because two or three more players available and Westham would have another great chance of a positive result .
Bowen and Summerville will in likelihood be back and that will make us stronger than in weeks . Pacqueta will hopefully make it . And we’ve got a 12 day break after Monday.
