Grass is laid at Olympic Stadium

The Olympic Stadium approaches it’s final stages of transformation this week as grass is laid down on what will become West Ham’s pitch next year. All construction work must be complete by this weekend and will not resume until the winter.

The first test event will take place this Sunday when the Morrison’s Great Newham run takes place followed the Sainsbury’s anniversary games the following weekend.

Claret and Hugh understands the turf being laid this week is not the final pitch West Ham will play on in August 2016. After the Rugby World cup is completed and a further Rugby match is played then the pitch will be ripped up again and re-installed using the Desso Grass Master system, a mixture of plastic fibres and natural grass currently used at Wembley Stadium and the Boleyn Ground.
