Gunners on way as top six becomes the priority again

David Moyes finds himself in the trickiest of situations this morning as he looks towards one of the most difficult games of the season depending on which Arsenal turn up at the London Stadium.

He got is spot on when deciding to concentrate his priorities on Europe by fielding a B side against Chelsea but he surely can’t afford to do the same again on Sunday.

Manchester United earned a point against the Blues last night to take them three points in front of the Hammers in sixth place with a six goal inferior goal difference.

The point is that we may now HAVE to focus again on the League as well as Thursday night so where does the manager go on Sunday in terms of team selection after a confidence busting home defeat and an incredibly difficult away tie?

Personally I don’t believe the Hammers looked as reinvigorated as Moyes or we would have hoped after the changes he made against Chelsea and hope he will mix it up again against Arsenal.

Give Manu a free role against the Gooners

We looked a better team against the Blues than we did last night and there’s more than a case for going down a similar road against the Gooners who, whilst beating Chelsea and Manchester United in their last two games were beaten by Palace, Brighton and Saints in the previous three.

Daws is suspended from last weekend so if – as I hope – we go with a back three that will be Johnson, Zouma and Cressie.

I’d expect to see Coufal at right wing back with Rice and Noble in theĀ  middle (surely Tomas needs another rest) with Fornals on the left,

Then let’s see Lanzini in a free role with Bowen and Mikey up front in a game which is as important in it’s own way as the games against Frankfurt were and are.

There may be a case for giving Areola the sweater between the sticks as he starts to look a very good keeper.
