West Ham were left trailing at half time following a fine goal from Abel Hernandez six minutes from the interval.

And they were lucky not to go in two down when the striker  hit the bar four minutes later and although Jelavic netted, the effort was ruled offside.

And the striker could have given the Hammers a lead in the 34th minute when he diverted a Valencia headed  at the far post towards goal but the ball was desperately pushed away for a corner.
