Haller given tumour diagnosis

Sebastien Haller has left Borussia Dortmund’s training camp after a tumour was found in his testicle, the Bundesliga club has announced.

The 28-year-old has recently joined the German club from Ajax in a deal worth £29m as the club looked to source a replacement for Erling Haaland, who has joined Manchester City.

Dortmund have issued a statement explaining the former Hammers star’s diagnosis.

They said that he “complained that he felt unwell after training on Monday” and medical tests then discovered a “testicular tumour”, per BBC Sport.

He is set to undergo further examinations over the coming days.

Dortmund sporting director Sebastian Kehl said: “This news today came as a shock to Sebastien Haller and everyone else.

“The entire BVB family hopes that Sebastien makes a full recovery as soon as possible and that we can give him a hug again soon.

“We’ll do everything in our power to ensure that he receives the best possible treatment.”

The former Irons star made a total of 54 appearances for the Hammers but struggled for goals and only scored 14 times, while laying on three assists.

He is an Ivory Coast international with 15 caps, and he has scored four goals for his country.

Haller has yet to make his Dortmund debut but was a standout player for Ajax, scoring 47 goals in 65 games, and he will now receive treatment in Germany.

Everyone at ClaretandHugh sends Seb our very best wishes.

  1. Definitely agree, hope he makes a full recovery, no reason why he shouldn’t if they have caught it early enough.

  2. Our own Bobby Moore had same problem during his playing career and made full recovery. Treatments have certainly advanced since 1960s so I am sure Haller will be ok and I add my best wishes.

  3. My thoughts and best wishes go out to Seb and his family at this time 🙏

  4. All the best to Seb for a speedy and full recovery
