Haller swoop…Pellegrini has changed Irons landscape

|

The signing that changed the West Ham landscape

An admission first!

When talk started that Sebastien Haller was a target for the Irons I seriously doubted whether we could get anywhere near the player.

We all know the guy by reputation as being one of the best around and it seemed seriously difficult to believe that we could beat Champions League clubs to the striker.

As the days went by it became clear, however, that the pressure to sign him was intense and now we hear via Twitter that Frankfurt Eintracht have cleared the way for him to travel to the east end for a medical and hopefully a move to the Irons.

There could of course be late twists and turns but all things being equal the player looks 90 per cent ours although this is such a huge signing there will be no “Hallulujah Chorus” until it’s finally done.

Assuming that, I genuinely believe the Hammers are firing for a top six spot next season with Arsenal and Manchester United vulnerable to the new statement of intent being served by the Hammers.

This now looks to be a squad to die for, assuming the Haller signing is completed, although perhaps one more ‘back up’ striker may be required.

Once we hear that the player has signed I believe it will be a landmark in Hammers transfer business history.

And it comes down to a man called Pellegrini for whom anything is possible from the board.

The  guy has changed the West Ham landscape and should everything now be completed on the Haller deal I genuinely believe we are on our way into Europe.

There will be another big plus should  the move go through with other top players looking at him and Felipe Anderson and seeing the Hammers as a big club for whom they could well consider signing.

Fingers crossed, this would be an amazing addition to our squad much better than the usual trash we sign

Lets get him signed then we can all breath again!! But it is a Pellegrini and Husillos world and window by window the changes are exactly what we need. This wont be the end of it this window either I suspect.

Both DS & DG polarise opinion but, credit where credit is due, they have acted after the Burnley protest and facilitated these positive changes.
It is a season to positively look forward to. Just pray that we don’t fall foul to the injury nightmares that plagued us last year. Given the creativity we have in MF, Haller should fill his boots! Onwards and upwards COYI

Well said Ajay, the Chairmen definitely deserve a lot of praise as well as the mgmt team and Husillos for getting these players in despite a lack of European football

Will be unpopular amongst some but I would go with a Free signing of Sturridge or Balottelli as a back up striker, sell Chich and possibly sell Ogbonna (although personally I rate him) whilst he still has a value. Marripan or Veltman would be great, along with a left back which if we sell, Chich, Obiang, Hugill, Oxford & Byram (already gone) and release Sanchez we will have the money for 2 very good defensive players and wages but time is running out so needs to be done fast.

All sounds great I’m just concerned by the amount of reports that he didn’t want to sign for us and if there is a buy out clause i at least want it to be around double whatever we buy him for or he could well be off in January.

Anyway hopefully my worries will subside it just reminds me of others who’ve done us a favour by joining.

I agree. I think Pellegrini is a large reason that we are attracting a better quality of player. That coupled with the clubs now obvious ambition to push on. Our squad is looking strong not just the team. We are now seeing just how unappealing our fringe players are, no other clubs want to touch them unless it’s for peanuts. I suspect in a couple of seasons, our fringe players will be going for significantly more.

To complete the squad we need a LB, a box to box midfielder and a supplementary striker. I think if we could bring in some more quality in those areas, we would be a serious threat.

Yes if this goes through it is good news. You can never be sure how a new player will fit in but this looks like a deal based on sound reasoning rather than some of our summer ‘ buy & hope for the best’ deals. I still think the defence needs some work – far too many goals conceded- but this is positive. I never thought he would come so I will be happy to be proved wrong -again..

Pellegrini has the best CV as a manager this club has ever had which is why top players now consider coming to us. I agree with Dom we need a LB but JOHNSON looks a very good prospect . Don’t think a box to box midfielder though Wiltshire and Nobes can do that along with Fornals if we get Haller we could get top six providing we have a injury free season
