Hammer admits he’s far happier this season

We have had much to say about Tomas Soucek’s vastly improved form at West Ham this season – now he has been speaking for himself on the subject and afmits he’s far happier.

And it takes no working out that his move forward in front of the likes of James Ward Prowse and Edson Alvarez is the reason he is so much happier and incentivised this time around.

Let’s not say too much about Declan’s decision to leave because he was an absolute star for this club but many have said for a long time now – that West Ham United have become a far better team with him in north London.

Indeed there were times when we were almost looking like a one man team!

It took little working out for most that Tomas is a far better player as an attacking midfielder but such was the desire to heap more on Declan that the Czech Republic skipper became disenchanted with a purely defensive role.

Commenting on the improvement in his game he said: “I feel really motivated this season. The team is doing really well and I’m looking to get forward in the games.

“Last season was a bit different and things didn’t always go our way. We’ve had some changes this season, and I think they are good changes which have helped me a lot.

“I’ve scored a few goals now and I hope I can carry on with it all, in terms of my goals, our results and my playing time too.

“It’s different now to last season. I now have new players to play alongside in Edson and James and it’s going really well. I think all of us have the ability to go forward and can do the defensive jobs too.

“It’s perfect because I know if I make a run towards the box then they are covering the space behind me. Also, if one of them is high up the pitch, I will stay and support our defenders. It’s an excellent combination and I’m enjoying playing with them.”
