Flynn Downes looks certain to be on his way back to West Ham next season and is making a great start to life at Southampton on loan this term.
He was once again in the Saints side for the eleventh time this season as the south coast side (hallelujah) beat Millwall 1-0.
His appearance followed a Man of the Match display in his previous league outing and he is looking a very good player right now.
As we reported last week the Hammers will be needing to buy several home grown players in the summer of next year and as a result Downes looks certain to be recalled to the squad to make up the required quota currently lacking quite badly.
Reports claim Saints deserved the win over Millwall having 73 per cent possession and registering eight shots on target to the home side’s solitary effort and as a huge Hammers fan Flynn will have been doubly delighted.
Downes’s level is the Championship. He had a very good season with Swansea before he joined us…… but he’s just not good enough for the Premier League.
IMHO he played well partnering DR. Look forward to seeing him back after the loan. No reason why he won’t continue improving his strength and abilities.
