Hammer focused despite possible exit

Conor Coventry’s West Ham future is hanging very much in the balance right now but the Under 23s skipper is remaining entirely focused on their progress at the top of Premier League Two Division Two.

Conor’s agents have been locked in talks aimed at a new deal in the summer but the club are resisting their demands.

Hopes still remain that a deal can be done but with both sides digging their heels in and no further talks scheduled until the summer, there seems little chance of a compromise being reached as things stand.

That would see him possibly leave the club with a Tribunal fixing the fee and ending a nine year stay with the Hammers which started when he was 10 years old.

Conor will let his agents continue to deal with the issues while he concentrates on the business of promotion backto League One and tonight has a real chance to build on the Hammers’ three-point advantage over Manchester United at the top of the table.

With the team travelling to Norwich this evening he said: “We know Manchester United and Stoke are the two teams behind us, and they play each other on Friday night as well.

“One of them’s got to drop points, so if we go to Norwich and win, we’ll be in a great position at the top, so we’re really looking forward to it.

“Of course it’s tough [playing twice in a week], but it’s what you want – you want to play games. It’s a big game because Monday( the Hammers beat Stoke 4-0)   doesn’t matter if we go there and lose, so that’s the challenge now: can we deliver another performance like the one against Stoke?”

West Ham United U23s against Norwich U23s kicks off at 7 pm.

  1. I wish they would stream these U23 games. Going to watch them isn’t an option for everyone. It would be good to see how our youngsters are doing and give a greater insight to the Academy side of the club. I’d gladly pay too, so it seems like a bit of a missed opportunity.

  2. Agree completely Buddy. What has happened to the West Ham tv set up?
