Hammer David Martin hinted yesterday was his last game following the Hammers 3-0 win over Southampton.
The son of former Hammer Alvin Martin took to Twitter on Monday morning to say “What an achievement West Ham, a record position and points total for us in the PL. It’s been a proud moment of my career to be a member of this squad and was amazing to be able to share it with 10k of us yesterday. Europe, here West Ham come #COYI“
The 35-year-old joined West Ham signed a two-year contract in July 2019 to provide cover for first choice keepers Łukasz Fabiański and Roberto.
Martin made his West Ham and Premier League debut on 30 November 2019 after Fabiański picked up an injury and Roberto was dropped due to poor form, keeping a clean sheet in a 1–0 away win against Chelsea; a performance which Martin later described as the best day of his life. He made 5 appearances in total for West Ham.
Good Luck David and thanks for the Chelsea game!
This quiet, unassuming young man did well when called upon and never complained when not playing. It demonstrates how deep West Ham roots go that he treasures being part of a history making squad. Thanks David, for your contribution. COYI.
