Hammer left on bench for debut

West Ham goalkeeper Nathan Trott was left on the bench of French second division side Nancy whom he joined on a season-long loan.

Trott made his senior debut for West Ham last season, coming off the bench in the Emirates FA Cup third-round win over Doncaster Rovers.

He was an unused substitute in yesterday’s 2-1 defeat between Nancy and Pau.

He has gone to France to gain first-team experience so hopefully, he will get some game time soon otherwise what’s the point.

In 2019 Trott joined League Two side AFC Wimbledon but returns to West Ham early after 23 appearances suffering a groin strain.

The 22-year-old looks like he will play understudy to current first-choice keeper Baptiste Valette after Martin Sourzac was released over the summer.

Having represented England at U15, U17 and U20 levels, Trott has yet to make a senior Premier League appearance for West Ham but has picked up eight cup appearances.
