Hammers linked with Juventus bid

Roberto-PereyraWest Ham has again been linked again with Roberto Pereyra from Juventus. Italian football website, Tuttosport claims West Ham have actually made an offer for the Argentine playmaker.

They suggest the Hammers have made a €15 million (£11.4 million) bid for the player.

The midfielder joined Juventus from Udinese in 2014, initially on loan, and the deal was made permanent last summer for a fee of around €14m, after an outstanding debut season for Juventus with 52 appearances, six goals and four assist he failed to live up to expectations last season racking up only 14 appearances and one assist. A couple of injuries have undermined his consistency but the Argentinean has never proved to be at the same level of the previous campaign this season.

Juventus are ready to listen to any offers and Italian press say West Ham are the club in pole position to sign the 25-year-old midfielder. Pereyra has earned ten international caps for Argentine and has a contract until 2020 with Juventus.

  1. There is nothing in his highlights reel that suggests he is a quality player worth 11 million, unless we can do a deal to get both he and Zaza for about 25 mill, offensively in midfield I can’t see him being more than a 1st reserve unless he is to compete with Lanzini which is possible, still the areas we need to strengthen are right back, defensive midfield and in the forward positions plus if Randolph leaves GK, if we look at the likely leavers Valencia, Randolph, JoB + the loaness Song, Emenike, Moses and already gone Jenks, thats 6/7 positions if we really want to compete and assuming we buy those replacements thats £100m in todays market unless we can get more loans in I don’t see the sums adding up, two strikers required one at £30m plus, maybe get £15m for Valencia, 2 – 3 mill for Randolph and JoB 500k or perhaps even a free, looks like the Davids will have to put £80 – 85mill in the transfer pot which is a lot more than they have suggested. They seem obsessed with spending big on a striker but it seems like half of Europe are trying that with deeper pockets and more pull than us so why not look into the secondary pot with names such as Zaza save yourself £10 – £15million to get better quality in the other positions and reduce the net spend.
