Hammer on score sheet again

Hammer Andriy Yarmolenko started for Ukraine and scored again to help his country to a 2-1 win over Finland in Helskii.

First-half goals from Yarmolenko and Roman Yaremchuk gave Ukraine a 2-1 win over Finland in their World Cup qualifier on Saturday.

The West Ham United forward put the visitors ahead less than five minutes after kickoff when he drove home from 20 metres past the Finnish goalkeeper.

Norwich City forward Teemu Pukki levelled for Finland in the 29th minute but Ukraine regained the lead minutes later with a goal from Yaremchuk.

Ukraine moved into second place in Group D with eight points behind France on 12 points. Finland sit above Kazakhstan with five points.

Yarmolnko has been on fine form for Ukraine and is now their second all-time top goalscorer after the retired Andriy Shevchenko on 48.

Yarmolenko has been a full international for Ukraine since 2009, scoring 43 goals in 102 matches and playing at UEFA Euro 2012, Euro 2016, and Euro 2020.
