West Ham have little or no chance of holding onto Lucas Paqueta although just how long it will take for him to leave remains questionable.

Manchester City have definitely come in for the Hammers midfielder and although we have zero interest in allowing him to leave it is going to prove an impossible job holding onto him,

Claret and Hugh has been contacted by sources close to the player and from inside West Ham and the accounts tally – a bid from Manchester City will be impossible to resist without serious upsetting the Brazilian .

Only two clubs have such power – City and Real Madrid – and Paqueta is already known to want out and has done for some time.

Our key source within the London Stadium said: “We have zero interest in selling Lucas but when it’s City you are into a whole new ball game.”

Like Gianluca Scamacca before him, Paqueta changed his agents back in April and May having become unhappy at the club and a few months later the bid comes in which will almost certainly see him move.

A source close to him said: ” He hasn’t been happy at the club or the football being played and frankly it will be no surprise to many of us to see him move on.”

To our chairman you must look pretty stupid now that by sticking with Moyes we have lost yet another top player. You are a foolish man but it’s your money you can throw it away on players like WP for all we care at this stage. Paqueta is our leader on the pitch. Ye just dont understand how much the players detest Moyes.

“He hasn’t been happy at the club or the football being played” how many players and coaches is that now!

  • West Ham Fan No 32 says:

When are we going to get rid of Moyes and hire a football manager, under Moyes this is standard, times have changed, what worked in the noughties isn’t relevant in the 20’s, results prove this, he is a dead man walking.

  • HammerMK says:

At risk of sounding dramatic, I probably wouldn’t have been so eager to renew my season ticket if I’d known how likely Pacqueta was to go. It’s desperate to hear how a player of that talent doesn’t want to play for us because our approach to playing football is so antiquated. This feels really bad…really, really bad.

No more Moyes signings as he needs to go now the players want him gone too, why are we sticking with him when we all know he is the problem. There will be outrage from the fans if Paqueta is allowed to leave this season. Like a previous poster he is one reason I renewed my season ticket. The club have no idea what is going to happen now but the protests towards Moyes will now intensify to a level they have never seen before and all because they have not made the simplest decision to sack Moyes which has led to all these players leaving our club. The board have acted truly disgracefully and have not engaged properly with the players and the fans. They now need to go too. The solution here is Paqueta must stay and Moyes is the one that must go.

We’ve lost him for sure. The pull of City and the stated horrible approach to football at West Ham, the elephant in the room, and we will find it impossible to keep an unhappy player. We the supporters have been gutted by the Moyes approach, to our young academy players, to our attack and skill based football, to our one up top scrapping (Fash the Bash!) Horrible horrible to watch and support. Our cries have fallen on deaf ears – change, he won’t. We need to shed Moyes and his sterile game, and even the fans saying back him regardless must surely see it? What a way to spend the Dec cash! Help!!!

We should be demanding 100 million or no deal.. It’s a shambles that we’d even consider selling our best player after losing rice already this close to the start of the season. Especially given how long it’s taken to bring in 3 players who I’m not exactly exciter about

  • johnham1 says:

Finally if the club make the decision to sell Paqueta and let me be very clear it will not be good enough for the club to turn around and say we had no choice. He is our player, the player must realise city will be there in 12 months and we can sack Moyes. For me Paqueta is a star he is a better player than Rice and his value to the club is in excess of 105m and I mean in excess.

    • brooksy says:

Do you think Rice may have stayed if we got a successful more attack minded manager with the potential to take West Ham to the next level and beyond? I think his decision would have been a lot harder for him to make

  • Hammer_Rite says:

The two people i blame is Moyes for playing such dull dreary football that players are desperate to leave and Sullivan for not having the b***s to sack him.

  • Austrick says:

I rate Paqueta more than Rice. He has the potential of becoming the best MF in Europe not just the Prem. Just tell City NO. He could be told maybe next season if he still feels the same. He signed a 5 year deal- crazy to let him go after 1. We’ll struggle for goals without him.

  • Buster says:

At this rate, we will hardly recognise the West Ham starting XI by the time we play Luton Town in September. With Lanzini, Rice, Scamacca, Masuaku and Vlasic already gone, and Cresswell, Downes, Antonio and now Paqueta allegedly on their way……. we’ll have a number of new faces that will need to hit the ground running.

Alvarez looks a good signing and Ward Prowse, who’s apparently having a medical this afternoon, is already considered as the dead ball king in the Prem, so I look forward to regularly seeing the opposing net bulge like we did when we had Payet in the team.

If Ogbonna was worth another season, then so was Lanzini and Cresswell. Masuaku was still on our books until a few weeks ago, and to be honest, I’d forgotten all about him. Vlasic is an experienced relatively young player we hardly saw – I’ve no idea what Moyes was put off by in seeing him every day in training. For Downes, read Hugill…..a player who is so out of his depth in the Prem. His starting XI record in the EPL reads, seven starts, seven defeats. Whether he’s going to Southampton on loan or permanently, I can’t wait to see him gone.

What is it with our coaching staff who can’t utilise a good player like Scamacca? (They were the same with Haller and Anderson). I expect Atalanta to benefit from West Ham’s incompetence during this new season. Antonio is for me, still a definite starter up front for me. At 33,and as pacey and strong as he appeared to be, he notched up 14 goals across all competitions last season. I would’ve played him alongside Scamacca with Bowen running in close by. But then, who am I compared to the experienced Mr Moyes? I pray that he and Steidten know what their doing.
