Hammer returns from Germany

Hammer Reece Oxford has returned from Borussia Monchengladbach in Germany after his loan came to an end.

Oxford announced the news on social media saying “My time at Borussia Monchengladbach has come to an end and I would like to thank all the staff, players and fans for supporting me and making me feel so welcome.  I’ve enjoyed my time and have some good memories that will stick with me.  I wish everyone at the club all the best for the future.”

Previous media reports suggested Oxford wants to stay in Germany and Borussia Monchengladbach would like to sign the Hammer permanently. Reports also persist that fellow Bundesliga side FC Leipzig are interested with up to a £12 million bid with add-ons worth another £8 million. A sell-on clause on might also be an option.

The new West Ham manager due to appointed as soon as tomorrow will have the final say on Reece Oxford on whether he stays in the squad, is sold or goes out on loan again.

  1. If we could get £12 million for him with add ons I say Auf Wiedersehen Pet!
He doesn’t want to play for us anyway.

  2. I think he deserves a proper chance to prove himself. his versatility would be an asset to the squad and I think he’d be a superb replacement for Collins. If we get more than 15 mil offered than replace everything I’ve said with Burke instead though…

  3. Ive heard the opinion that he doesn’t want to play for us a lot but I don’t know where that comes from. I only see a young player who’ve wants to play at the highest level and has been prepared to go to a different country and play at the highest level of German football in order to prove that he’s good enough to play in the premier league. And then you have to feel sorry for him because he’s been used at right back (even though he did a pretty decent job playing at right back for Gladbach) or in midfield. For a player who a few years ago was considered to be the next Rio Ferdinand, you have to feel sorry for him that he hasn’t had a chance to play in that position and show what he can do as a centreback. Controversial I know but I would rather keep Oxford than Reid. And with Collins going, whether we like it or no then maybe there is finally going to be an opportunity for Oxford to play his natural position.
