The 29-year-old posted on social media “What a way to finish the season. Thank you very much West Ham it has been really a pleasure, to my teammates, coaching staff and club staff with whom I had to work only words of thanks for everything. Best wishes for the next season and enjoy this moment. ⚒⚒

Balbuena joined West Ham  from Brazilian side Corinthians on a three-year deal in July 2018, for a modest £3.6m transfer fee.

The centre back made 62 appearances for West Ham in all competitions scoring three goals during his three years as a Hammer.
The free agent has been linked with a number of clubs including Galatasaray. His departure will release around £40,000 per week in wages which can be re-invested this summer.

Farewell to the General. Was doing well pre-injury. Played 18 times this season, and scored that vital goal against Spurs. A bit surprised such a good player is leaving. The backstreet Moyes must feel Alves is ready.

Great player in my opinion. I’m very sorry to see him go and wish him all the best for the future. I would have liked to see him come on yesterday instead of Diop so the fans could have wished him well. Thanks Fabian.

Good luck for the future Fabian. You were a great professional for our club and we will miss you.

A great servant to the club, was unlucky to be injured this season when Ogbonna was first out as could have seen him ahead of Diop. Don’t understand why we didn’t sign him for another year just to get a fee, ala Lingard with Utd. Hope he does well elsewhere.

Sad to see Fabian Balbuena leave, but I’m sure all the fans wish him well.
Just a little puzzled why we have let his contract run down and not got a transfer fee?
    surely his worth £3 Million?
