Hammer set to stay despite reported interest

low raterNew reports that Issa Diop could  be on his way to Newcastle may EVENTUALLY be true but as things stand it can’t happen in this window and thus far no bids have been received for any first team player..

That was made clear by David Moyes in his pre-Leeds United FA Cup third round presser when he explained  the only enquiries had come for youngsters at the club not first team squad members.

According to L’Equipe the Hammers central defender is high on Eddie Howe’s wish list whose interest has been reported on various occasions.

He apparently wants to pay around £10 million for the 24 year old who cost the Hammers £22 million.

If true that demonstrates the Magpies aren’t set to spend the sort of money expected following their takeover on teh world’s best!

Moyes is very keen to sign a new central defender and given the current problems in that area is more than unlikely to let Diop go as it would only bring the available number back to three should Zouma make an expected rapid recovery.

Diop could well be available when Oggy returns but that certainly isn’t going to be until next season so the summer looks the more likely option for Diop’s departure if it happens at all and that maybe too late for Newcastle anyway.
