Hammer should be fit for season start

|

West Ham are hoping that Angelo Ogbonna can be fit before the start of the Premier League in three weeks time.

The 33-year-old centre back pulled up after feeling his hamstring after six minutes of the Celtic v West Ham to be replaced by Issa Diop.

The Italian defender had a scan on Monday with a club insider playing down any suggestion of a long term hamstring injury.

Ogbonna is likely to miss the matchday squad for Brentford this weekend but is hopeful to be fir by the time the Hammers travel to Sy James Park to face Newcastle way on the first day of the Premier League season.

Arthur Masuauku remains on an individual training programme as he recovers from a knee injury and is yet to feature in pre-season friendlies.

Both will be crucial to return for David Moyes with such a small squad to start the season with.
