Hammers £20 million bid rejected

|

West Ham are being reported as having seen a £20 million bid for Manchester United central defender Harry Maguire rejected.

Various media outlets are reporting the Old Trafford snub which we made clear on here a few days ago along with the fact that the England defender did not want to move to the London Stadium.

It means of course another failed move by the Irons who have also missed out on Chelsea’s Conor Gallager and have seen a bid for James Ward-Prowse turned down by Southampton.

West Ham have had a £20m bid rejected for Harry Maguire

West Ham boss David Moyes is a big fan of Maguire – whose contract expires in 2025 – but as was the case with Jesse Lingard he looks like missing out.

Even had the former Leicester City player – sold for £80 million – his wages would have been a major issue for the Irons. Now we are are unlikely to go back in for him, unless his situation drastically changes.

Man U ruined him. The old $ sign lit his eyes up when at Leicester. He must suffer the consequences and remain a red but one of first choices on Southgate’s teamsheet. They probably want 40 million – would be a bargain for Luton.lol

The deal for Maguire is just too expensive. 35m fee plus huge salary + huge signing on fee. It just makes zero financial sense. I am also not convinced he wants to join us. Can we stop wasting our money and time on these type if players.

Moyes mania, Maguire is not for us, we need to get going on some DOF solutions

Why are we wasting time bidding for players who don’t want to come to us? I think £20 million is an reasonable offer for a 30-year old who’s not wanted by his current manager, irrespective of Southgate’s previous support. If Maguire wants to stay with his over-inflated opinion of himself on his over-inflated salary, then that’s great as far as I’m concerned – I don’t see a queue of other ‘big’ clubs clamouring for his signature. Perhaps Mykonos Utd will buy him. We need some (younger) reinforcements asap but we want players who want to play for West Ham.

    Okay, no problem. Move on

  • Gazza says:

Surely someone would have checked how much they wanted for him and to see if the player was interested in a move? Why are we wasting our time going after players who don’t want to join with offers the other clubs are unlikely to accept!

World record signing for a defender at 80 million just a couple of years ago. First on the team sheet for Garath Southgate but we try and get him for 20 million. Lol. Of course he’s not good enough for West Ham and will never reach the majestic heights of Craig Dawson from Watford.

Not a fan of Maguire. Why repeat Lingard saga and look at what’s happened to him since!
Just because we have £105 million other clubs want to take us to the cleaners. Sit tight as with all transfer windows it goes to last day!

  • Neil Down Under says:

Wow, does any player want to sign for us?
Once again it’s beginning to look farcical.
It’s so frustrating, surely to kick on as a club, not just be mid-table obscurities hoping for a cup run, we need to show some ambition.
Which we did by bringing in a young and ambitious DOF, who I’ll be surprised if he’s still in place come the first game of the season, after this shower of…
Honestly I thought the Spuds were brave bringing in Ange, but by comparison, looks like a genius move.
    Sorry, rant over.
