Wolverhampton Wanderers defender Max Kilman has completed his two-part West Ham medical and could be officially announced as a Hammer player as early as this weekend.
Whilst there were some sticking points regarding agent fees, the transfer was concluded extremely quickly once the Midlands club and West Ham came to an agreement on a fee worth just over £40 million.
Hammers head coach Julen Lopetegui was keen to get the Kilman transfer deal over the line in order to involve the player in preseason training. It is also now likely that the former Wolves captain will join West Ham on their pre-season tour to America and fitness camp in Austria.
Lopetegui is keen to get as many players integrated into the squad as quickly as possible in a bid to firmly establish and cement his tactics and playing style.
West Ham’s director of football, Tim Steidten, is expected to be extremely busy over the next few days in an attempt to get more signings over the line, with a striker remaining a big priority.
40 million. Insane and obscene amount of money. The game has gone mercenary mad. Everybody getting a cut and the fans get f*cked up the ass by the seedy owner and moneymen yet again.
They laughing at you all the way to the bank.
And Wolves screwed Maidenhead out of £4m.
The money has been mad for years, hopefully fair play rules will eventually bring some sense to the game and prices will settle. Developing your youth players had got to be the way forward.
That’s what Maidenhead did in developing Kilman. Sold him to Wolves for 40k who then sold him on. Sell on clause was in place to get 20%, but apparently the 3 clubs agreed between themselves to let the deal go through to sell on would be reduced to 10%
