Hammers Agent fees soar by 50%

moneyThe total amount paid by West Ham to agents in the period 1 October 2013 to 30 September 2014 soared to £6,380,339.31. This included three loan signings in January and nine arrivals during the summer.  This is an increase of over 50% on the £4,169,134.09 paid to agents in the 2012/2013 period.

The Hammers  rank sixth in the table of agent fess in the Premier League this year up from 9th place last year. We are only surpassed by Chelsea, Liverpool, Manchester City, Spurs, and Manchester United who spent more than us on agents.

It brings the Hammers spend on agents over the last five years to nearly £24 million.

  1. If you are party to this info are you also able to state how much Allardyces agent received? This is what everyone wants to know.

    • Rugby you are talking total rubbish. To blame the manager for an incident while the player is on international duty is cretinous. Please stop such rubbish. There’s no place for it on an intelligent forum

  2. No Rugbyirons, it’s what YOU want to know. Most people know agents are a necessary evil, Karen Brady has gone on record as saying she despises them but the simple fact is you don’t buy any player, negotiated any contract without an agent being involved.

Here’s a simple explanation for you that you ought to be able to grasp, West Ham brought 9 players in, that was amongst the 6th highest in the Prem, we spent £33m, amongst the top 6 spenders in the Prem, our wage bill is around the top 6 in the Prem, we certainly have aspirations to be top 6 this year, is it therefore a surprise to you we are top 6 in terms of paying agents?

David Sullivan is a business man who has been considerably more successful than you or I, do you really think he would willingly pay anything more to an agent than he has to?

  3. Surely if the players want agents to do their deals then they should be paying them and not the club. Bands have to pay their managers so why not footballers. Disgusting the amount that clubs are paying agents.

  4. It’s a good point WesthamWag but it’s the players who are in control. The clubs generally have to fight to get the players to sign on so if they say we want £X per week and you pay my costs then that’s what they get. I hate it when I read about players earing a wage and the club paying their tax. That’s effectivily saying the player is above paying tax like the rest of us. Mind you nice work if you can get it 🙂

  5. it sounds like a lot of money, IT IS A LOT OF MONEY…………… BUT if we look at the amount of players we signed during that time its not to bad and those signings have turned our club around. As we progress into a BIG club (we hope) this bill is just going to get bigger and biggggger
