Hammers aim to nail down new Reid deal

winston-reid-west-ham-united_3009997West Ham will settle down to talks with Winston Reid soon after the end of the season.

Reid has a year left on his current deal and there has been much speculation of possible bids for last year’s Hammer of the Year.

Despite admitting that he still has to reach top fitness after a comeback from a 23-week injury lay off , the player is still believed to be fancied by Liverpool.

Kop boss Brendan Rogers is an admirer of the Kiwi and is keen to strengthen defensively for  despite the persistent Title challenge, the Reds have looked vulnerable in defence.

However, the Hammers will give absolutely no encouragement and are not even  prepared to put a price tag on the player.

Instead they will make the player a top offer seeing him as one of those around whom they will improve the squad.

An Upton Park source told ClaretandHugh exclusively: “Talks with Winston Reid are a top priority. We see him as an extremely important player.

“There have been no formal approaches from other clubs and we want him to sign a new deal. We will speak to him and his advisers soon after the season ends.”
