West Ham’s hopes of signing Darwun Nunez appear to have shrunk to near zero.

Despite it being widely understood that David Moyes is unready to spend a large percentage of his window budget on a striker  he would unquestionably had done so had he had a real chance of landing the Uruguay front man.

He believed he had got his man on deadline day last time around before the player and club staged a disappearing act with a near £60 million fee believed to have been agreed.

Very Low RaterClaretandHugh has since been told the player was at the top of their list of preferred forwards but there has been no contact with the club since.

In the meantime it is not hard to work out that other top clubs are keen on the 22 year old Benfica star the likes of PSG, Liverpool and Manchester United have all been linked with the powerful 22-year-old (The Independent).

The Hammers may try again for Ollie Watkins at Aston Villa hoping  manager Steve Gerrard is bluffing in a bid to get the fee above £50 million.

  1. Wasn’t it Zapata we had agreed on deadline day….not Nunez.

We never agreed a fee for Nunez.

  2. We were never close to being in the race for Nunez, like Raphinha and Phillips at Leeds and numerous other windows, our directors are like Boris Johnson they say a lot but nothing is ever delivered, they now have dithering Dave at the helm who treats transfers like his substitutions leaving them as late as possible so wouldn’t expect much but hope to be proved wrong. We would be far better bidding for Keane Lewis-Potter and building for the future, at least we can attract that type of player at least while Bowen and Rice are still at the club because they will see it as an opportunity. Kretinsky doesn’t seem to have made any difference similarly to Newman, we have to be the least effective club at securing our targets in the PL
