Hammers beat Spurs in seven goal thriller

A West Ham Under 23 team overcame Spurs U23’s in a thrilling 4-3 win in Stevenage tonight.

The Hammers opened the scoring when Armstrong Okoflex made a run down the left and stands up his man, shooting low to the near post. Goalkeeper Oluwayemi made a decent save low to his right, but Perkins keeps it alive to cross to the back post. Omole headed it clear, but only as far as Pierre Ewkah, who returmed it with interest, volleying into the top left-hand corner. 1-0 West Ham.

Spurs levelled it up and then went 2-1 up before Dan Chesters was released down the right hand side andhad a clear path to goal in the right channel. He drove into the box and took the shot on as Omole tried to get across to block. The defender managed a slight touch on the shot, but not enough to block its path to goal. 2-2.

On 26 minutes Harrison Ashby had the space to operate in high up the pitch, and his low cross is in the vicinity of Chesters. But the decisive touch came from the defender Marques wasir, who is unfortunate to turn into his own net from close range. West Ham 3-Spurs 2

Just before halftime, the Hammers conceded a penalty which is converted to make it 3-3 at the break.

Just after the second half started Forson danced into the box and was tripped as he triedto beat his man. The ref points to the spot!

Armstrong Okoflex strikes his spot-kick with power to the left-hand side, and although keeper Oluwayemi gets his fingertips to it, it’s not enough to keep the ball out. 4-3 to West Ham.
