David Moyes has already started working on who is likely to play in which games over the rest of a busy September.
Manchester City tomorrow is followed by Topola in the Euro League Liverpool, Lincoln in the League Cup and Sheffield United at the end of the month.
Each game demands its own strategy and tomorrow’s game will give big clues on how we will be approaching games with a couple of banana skins to negotiate.
Beyond the left back position we now have a squad which can cope with a crowded calendar and we could easily be looking at a winning run throughout the month.
It would be particularly good to see some of the kids involved in the Euro League match although nearing in mind Divin Mubama is included in the under 21 squad that may be a shout which won’t happen with Moyes presumably preferring Mr Danny Ings!
Commenting on the situation the manager said: “We’ve been discussing it a lot and we’ve been looking at how we recover the players correctly, and how often we think they can play. It’s why we get money from Sky Sports and other outlets, because of the schedule.
We buy players so we can then field strong teams in all the competitions. You have to use your whole squad and we’ll try to do that in the coming months because the games will take their toll on the players when they play so often.”
