Hammers break an unwanted sequence

Match verdict by Hughie Southon

That’s the Thursday/Sunday win/lose routine sequence broken and who better to achieve that against than Spurs.

Against any other team today’s result wouldn’t have been particularly memorable but given we badly needed to break the Europa Leag/Premier League result routine and this was Spurs it was more than very welcome.

Ok, it wasn’t the greatest game of football we will ever see but with Vladi Coufal missing and Tomas Soucek clearly still not at his best it was a result of which to be particularly proud and pleased.

The difference for me was in Cresswell, Rice,  Zouma,  Ogbona and Mikey who between them  bossed things in different part of the pitch.

Spurs found – like many before them – that when they felt they may get away with a point the Irons found a way to pinch three – and that’s the sign of a very good team.

We also chalked up another top stat with that being the ninth game out of ten this season when we have always found the net.

So we go into that top four against a Spurs team who for all their forward movement at times couldn’t fond a way past two banks of four.

It’s been said man times before but make no mistake we ar watching a quite outstanding West Ham team.
