West Ham cannot recall Martin Samuelsen from Peterborough United as an emergency replacement for Manuel Lanzini.
The Hammers were hit with the shock news of the midfielder’s injury which could keep him out of action for up to six weeks.
And the thoughts of some on the social networks immediately turned to the young Norwegian as a replacement after his stunning start to life on loan at London Road.
But ClaretandHugh was immediately told: “No, he’s not ready and he has to stay at Peterborough for a month before he can be recalled anyway.”
“The Lanzini blow is cruel. No one expected such news but we showed on Saturday we can cope but we really can’t take any more injuries.”
I thought at the time that we were letting too many loans out. You must keep yer @rse covered in any business. Unforseen events always happen.
We seem to put a lot of negativity around AC and it’s wrong, he has something most players strikers don’t ‘presence’, players like Lineker, Cottee, Defoe etc left up front as lone strikers will always be marked by 2 players, one tight and one covering should the 1st defender gets beat, players like Ashton, Drogba and Carroll will always need 3 defenders marking them, 2 tight trying to win high balls and one covering should the striker win the ball which Carroll 9/10 times does, because of this attacking teams can only push 6 players up front to attack 10 players behind the ball, we see this against ManU and the tactic kept them shooting from range and hurried off target opportunities and allowing us to break, let’s get off the man’s back
why all the same injuries .Quadriceps 4 in a very short period. What causes a quadriceps injury?
of the 2 Lee should be able to step up. He’s played well this year but unfortunately for him he can’t come back till the 3rd Jan.
Cannot believe that Samuelson was allowed to go with no “call back” clause. Also, have often wondered why Lee is never given a chance. Surely now he could at least be on the bench? But no, he has been sent on loan to Blackpool. That should be a worthwhile experience!!
With Antonio available, Cullen to come in Song back to near fitness and Jelavic on the bench as well we should have the players to cover,
Might need to change our style but we knew that was coming and with Enner due back in a couple of weeks we will come through but this is the time for AC to repay our trust and no more injuries or we will need the transfer window,
Lee can make the bench as well
I always thought Steve McLaren or Allardyce would come for AC in January. With the new lineup and game plan AC looks lost up front.Granted he can hold the ball up or move the ball on with his head but look well beaten by Smalling last week.IMHO.
Agree with you lokfaen !!
But oxford and Cullen will probably be drafted in and Antonio will get his chance ( not beforetime iIMO )
Cullen is in fine form at present and I would have no problem sticking him in . Also oxford needs no introduction !!
The injury we have are mind blowing and all appear to be in the offensive department !!!
It appears we have no luck at present !! Unbelievable really ??
Onwards with our chins up and get behind Bilic and the lads !!!!!!
I will be surprised if we have not retained the opportunity to recall this player from loan. We should have definitely kept that option open although it did not look like we needed backup here earlier, as time shows over and over again injuries will come to those you need the most…
I would have loved to see Samuelsen on the bench – and I hope Antionio will be given his first start. Samuelsen could be a nice alternative to throw on later in the game. Especially considering how he did in yesterdays u21 match (and I’m Norwegian as well so that probably helps hehe). What’s your opinion?
