Hammers’ chances of Europa glory revealed

West Ham are comfortably the second favourites to win the Europa League this season!

The Hammers thumped Lyon 3-0 last week, to book a semi-final clash with Bundesliga side Eintracht Frankfurt.

The other semi-final will see fellow German club RB Leipzig meet with Scottish side Rangers.

FiveThirtyEight produce a statistical model that predicts the big competitions and they have tipped Leipzig to win the competition.

Per their model, they have a 53% chance of winning the final, while the Hammers have a 20% chance. The fellow two clubs, Frankfurt and Rangers, have a 17% and 10% chance respectively.

Leipzig are comfortably the strongest-rated side in the competition, ahead of the Irons, and are doing reasonably well in Germany this season.

They are currently fourth in the table, just a point behind third-placed Bayer Leverkusen, and beat Atalanta in the quarter-final to reach this stage; they won 3-1 on aggregate against the Serie A side in the last round.
